We'll know for sure when we see how the season shakes out. I certainly prefer last year's team on paper to this one, but I'm particularly excited to how this changes our look on the offensive side of the ball.

When you stack it up that way, yes and it is not even close. Put Grant Williams in there and still the same answer. The main regret is it all happened so late. If this were an early offseason move then you’d have a line of minimum ring chasers asking for a spot. The minutes would be clearly there.

I do like that these big moves (Porzingis and Holiday), happened during the off-season. The team now has all of training camp to gel.

Every trade Brad has made so far has made the team better. Getting Horford back. Getting Derrick White. Getting Malcolm Brogdon. But Brad took much bigger gambles with trades this offseason. KP and Jrue are All star caliber players on paper, but one is a 7”3 bean pole who is constantly getting injured, and the other is a guard entering his mid thirties. I am skeptical at best, but also feel fortunate to have a GM who is aggressive and will roll the dice.

I'm drinking the kool-aid right now.  I think we're better, perhaps significantly so.

I actually like Hauser, so I'm not chewing my fingernails over the quality of the bench (though the coach's willingness to stick with him through a rough stretch is a separate question).  The one piece I think we're missing is a PF/C rotation-caliber banger who can soak minutes against Giannis, Embiid, and potentially Jokic without breaking in half.  That was Grant last year but we didn't replace him.  Something to watch.

If you rearrange the trades I think the overall value is clear:

Brogdon + Timelord + Gallo + Muscula for KP

Marcus + #1 for Jrue + six (?) seconds

I'd have probably said yes to both deals without a lot of second guessing.

I think so, yes. We now have IMO the best starting 5 in the league. I am also quite the believer in both Hauser & Pritchard - happy to see them both get 15-20MPG with their shooting and passable defence.

Importantly, everyone wants to be here too. Not sure that was the case with Brogdon by the end.

Sure, if they can stay on the court all season/postseason. If the C’s lose any of the starters for extended time, it’s not going to be pretty.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yes, you would do those trades in a heartbeat. Unless someone gets injured  :police:

But, you can't trade on the basis of people getting injured.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

More top end talent but less depth. But in the playoffs the top end talent generally wins.

I'm honestly shocked at how Brad has radically transformed the roster. After game 7. I thought we would just roll it back. Clearly Brad thought we were done with that iteration of the Celtics and they reached their peak.

Hopefully essentially having a brand new team erases some of the long term issues that have kept us from getting over the hump.
