Holiday is not exactly a picture of health. He has missed 15 games in each of the last 2 seasons and hasn't missed less than 10 since 2018.  He is in in his mid-30's.  Smart played only 2 less games over the past 2, so I'm not sure we really got more durable. I love the talent upgrade, but there is a real health concern with Jrue, which isnpart of why I think the Bucks were willing to make the trade.

How of those are injury related and just Milwaukee resting him? I don’t think he’s been much of a concern missing games. He joined the C’s now though so that automatically changes. Hospital C’s FTW
Last season, Jrue took a personal day late March and missed the last two games for "rest".  His big injuries last season were 4 games in November for an ankle injury and 3 games after Christmas for a hammy.  Jrue will miss some games but there are no real health concerns with Jrue.

Leon Powe stops by the Auerbach Center ? I'm happy to hear that, but a bit surprised given how he was discarded after hurting his knee busting his ass for the team and being the star of Game 2 in the 2008 Finals.

It would be great to see Larry Bird visit even just a couple of times a year, but he keeps such a low profile, I would doubt it. Are there any hard feelings on Larry's part due to the Celts declining to offer him a management position after he retired from playing ?

it is true he doesn't have any existing injury, but he gets banged up and misses multiple games multiple times a year.  Guys can't keep doing that, especially at his age before he misses multiple weeks instead of multiple games.  Smart had the same concern so it isn't a downgrade on durability, I just wouldn't call it an upgrade either.

How is missing 15 games a year durability issues? This is just a hot take for hot takes sake.

Porzingus I get. But Jrue?

It might be awkward for Bird being employed by the Pacers, but I would love to see him around.

same as Smart the last couple years, which was the point I was making.

TP, I was just going to mention this.

I love seeing Powe around every year. I loved that guy, shame he couldn't have had a longer career.

How we feeling about the trade so far?

I know it'll cost a fortune but I really hope we can find a way to keep White + Holiday in addition to the 3 stars (JT, JB, KP). That could be our Core-5 for years to come and is a contending lineup. Plus I think that team is full of team-players and not too many egos which I feel sometimes has hurt us (Kyrie, Smart, Rozier, etc.)

I wonder if it is not more important to keep Jrue & D White than it is to keep Jaylen Brown. If it comes down to a money decision over who stays and who goes.

I’d much rather have the White and Holiday combo than Brown moving forward. Jaylen Brown still strikes me as a guy who wants to be a number one option (and he’s certainly paid like one) and I don’t really love his Bball IQ and shot selection.

White and Holiday are such natural fits next to Tatum whereas Brown is kind of redundant, and the Jays don’t really play off each other.

No brainer for me. Keep Jrue and D White for the best backcourt combo in the NBA than keeping Jaylen Brown. He's redundant with Jayson Tatum here already. And quite frankly, his BBIQ is just bad. Can't depend on him leading this team when JT is down.

Jrue is older. He has 2 or 3 years left before he turns into a player like Horford. Fine player to have, but not a core piece. Goven that, Boston needs to maximize the next couple seasons.

That's a contradiction. If Jrue has 2-3 years left of his peak, then that maximizes the next couple of seasons, right? Jrue is a core piece.

next 2-3 seasons is all Boston is looking at at this point imo. its why KP extension goes 3 years. and likely they will try and keep Jrue/White for those 3 years as well.

after that they can worry about what to do with Jaylen/who to put around tatum.
