Sounds about right..

Luka Doncic drops 24/14/10 triple-double for Slovenia in loss to Greece

A sold-out crowd at Stozice Arena in Ljubljana was in for a treat from the moment the game started between Slovenia and Greece. Luka Doncic mesmerized the audience, but in a thriller finish Greece managed to get the win playing without Giannis Antetokounmpo in a preparation game for the Word Cup 98-91. Doncic tabbed a triple-double with 20 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds. But in the end, he did not manage to get a win for his team, but non the less the Slovenian crowd did enjoy some Luka magic. – via EuroHoops.net

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I am interested to see how Jalen Brunson does alongside those guys. He was quite ball dominant and very much a scorer in NY. Interesting test for him there.

Josh Hart and Bobby Portis are clear weak links there. I like the rest of the roster.

Am the only one that thinks reaves may be a bit overrated? He is still a good deal for the lakers on his contract, but starting to feel people think he could be a star and I think his ceiling isn’t super high cause of his athleticism. Him and hart some weird on this team roster (I can understand Portis as a veteran presence)

It's the in-between-Olympics roster. Kind of like when the US finished 7th in the 2019 FIBA championships in China when JT, JB and Derrick White played for them, along with Myles Turner, Kemba, Donovan Mitchell, Smartacus, Harris and our bigs were Myles Turner, Mason Plumtree and Brook Lopez. We were unbeaten till we got to the quarterfinals, where we lost to France after leading by 7 points, then lost to Serbia because Bogdanovic lit us up, then we managed to beat Poland by 13 to secure 7th place. Pop had to go small multiple times because we had no bigs - in the NBA none of the best bigs are American these days. Given we only have Kessler, Banchero, JJJ and Portis as the bigs this time around I'm expecting Steve Kerr to have to go small in large stretches again. He's used to it at least  :police:

There's a youtube video of a practice session, it's labeled as "Jalen Brunson vs. Anthony Edwards", something like that but it's full-court 5-on-5. Brunson is indeed pretty ball-dominant.

Well this thing's about to kick off, Italy v Angola in Okinawa and Finland v Australia in Manila tomorrow at 4am for those of us hardcore enough to get up  :police:

Team USA play NZ the next day (Saturday) at 8.40am Eastern, in Manila. Another fun city I had the fortune to visit. Interested to see how our team of pipsqueaks go in this tournament. No Celtics are playing so no worry about injuries too!

NZ leading Team USA 14-7 with 3 min to go in the first quarter of their FIBA match. Team USA has turned the ball over 6 times in 7 minutes, about a turnover a minute. They're on track for maybe 40 turnovers in a 40 min game if they keep it up.

They're behind Lithuania too, 54-37 at halftime. Score was 31-12 after the first quarter. Lithuania shooting 81% from 3.

Bit of work to do for the kids in the 2nd half.
