I hope anybody who wanted to deal Pritchard and make Davison the third point guard this season was watching. Yikes...

Gotta be honest, I thought Davison had a chance to take that leap, but he's not there.

It was a little concerning that this is summer league competition and he couldn't blow by anyone off the dribble. Secondly, if you can't finish at the rim then defenders will play you to pass. Some of the turnovers seemed due to unfamiliarity with teammates, but a lot of others were just bad passes/ball security. It definitely was the worst game I've ever seen from him.

Me too. Sure hope Banton can show something if we trade PP.

Davison today signed another 2 way contract so safe to say they weren't planning on him contributing this season.

Exactly, whereas Walsh signed for a regular roster spot on a multi-year deal

Walsh has some really good basketball instincts.
Two decent games in a row for the rookie.

Are we watching the same game?

He didn’t shoot well, but his defense was solid. 12pts, 3ast, 2rebs, 2blks, 1stl
Love his athleticism & defence. His length is crazy!
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

Starting to come around on Justin Champagnie rather Javonte, but I think he can be a 3 and D guy.

Me too.  But he’s younger than 25 of the 58 players who were drafted a couple of weeks ago, so he’s got time developmentally speaking.

U. Azubuike is clearly better than  O. Balcerow

I thought Walsh being dinged up early hurt his game today.

I was not able to watch all that much of these two games, but I think I saw enough to get the idea.  With the 2-way for Davison now official, plus Walsh and Champagnie signed (albeit Champagnie is NG), that means the remaining players need to beat out Champagnie or maybe Kornet in order to make the team.  We do still have 2 more 2-way slots.

I did not see anyone out there on the Celtic's SL team that was better than either Champagnie or Kornet.  Udoka Azubuike looked a lot better in the second game than in the first, but I am not sure he is better than Kornet.  If he would take a 2-way, I would definitely offer that to him, he is much better than Kabengele.  He absolutely has an NBA body and athleticism but not enough touch or feel for the game right now.  I don't think Olek Balcerowksi is ready for even a 2-way.  And all the rest are just like hundreds of other possible 2-way players.  Some of them are close but really nothing special, nothing you couldn't pick up at any time at any point of any season.

Walsh did not have a good second game.  You can see he is an NBA athlete, but still raw.  Champagie looked much better in game 2, more what I remember of him from last season.  He has some skill and athleticism.  I see some potential there, but he is not close to being a player who would actually play other than garbage time.  I would say he is still on the bubble.

Azubuike looked terrible in the 1st game, completely lost, butterfingers, etc. so not clearly better than Balcerowski.

We all watch SL, but it is not a very good indication of who will make it. Jay Scrubb has clearly been the best player on the floor, but he's not making the team.

Is this a case of the shinier turd?

I like Scrubb. I wouldn't mind him at the end of the bench.

I like him too, his game reminds me of JB. That said, he's a black hole with the ball.

My larger point is that we as fans will learn very little from watching SL. Coaching staff and Brad know the strengths and limitations of each player much better than we do. For example, JD Davison signed another 2-way before the 2nd SL game was even played. Brad had already seen enough to know JD would not be part of the rotation this year and needs to work on his game. Likewise, Jordan Walsh was offered a 4-year contract before SL started.

Worth it for the marketing possibilities of Scrubb Time alone
Yup

I was hoping either one of them could be a serviceable end of the bench big. It seems though that Kornet is way better than them at this point.
