I'm no cap expert.  Can somebody explain to me why we shouldn't be offering Brown for Lillard?

I’d say due to him being old and missing a lot of games every year. Small guards don’t typically age well. Also Has a terrible contract and he doesn’t seem interested in coming to Boston.

When he plays on the best team he's ever been on that attitude will change soon enough. Anyway Lillard has always been a professional on the court. I don't worry about his character. And small guards who primarily depend on speed don't age well, but Lillard is also a very skillful player.

Lillard is a top 10 player now and adding him to the team would make the Celtics the main challenger to the Nuggets.

Plus the fact that he is horrific defensively. We already lost Smart. No need to downgrade our backcourt defense any further.

Assuming Porzingis stays healthy, the Celtics are already the main challengers to the Nuggets without Lillard. I'm not so sure swapping Brown for Lillard would increase our chances that much. Yes, Lillard is obviously a superior scorer, but the defensive dropoff from Brown to Lillard would be significant. Had we kept Smart, I would be more okay with a Brown for Lillard deal, but now that Smart is gone, I don't think it's the best idea.

We have an elite defender in White to form the back court with Lillard.
Tatum is a good defender and then you have the twin towers (Timelord and the Zinger) to defend the rim.
Defensively we're fine. It's ball handling and playmaking what we need and Lillard is top notch in that regard.

After the Porzingis trade, the C’s are the odds favorite to win the championship. They are already a challenger.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Would The Grizzles trade Ja and pieces for Lillard? That makes the Grizz a major contender. Ja doesn't fit with Scoot as starters but Portland should be in the asset collecting mode.

I would do a trade Lillard Brown because he gives us what we clearly lacked last year finals and still in close games in this years playoff : a very strong finisher, ballhandler, the 2nd most insane shooter of the league. Baring injury risks he has at least 3 élite years in his legs. I don't see him aging differently than Curry... Tatum isn't a Point Wing we can't ask much more than the progress he did it s like asking Durant 10 years ago the same. Brown is turnover prone, Porzingis not a great collectiv player.

A long term Brown would probably beat all what the Heat can give, Portland may accelerate his rebuild with a very athletic young promising core of guards ans wings with a clear leader. We could give Horford to mentor the project and take Murray for 1 long term potential option at the 4. I would still exigate 1 future first or 2 swaps to compensate the age différence.

Problem is Brown won't sign long term there si the deal isn't réalistic and we have no other way to bring gim

He also is going to be going downhill very soon with his age.    6"2" guards who relay on speed are not going to get any better and only worse with him being 32.   The fall will be hard like it was for Kemba.

We should.
Brown + filler (not White or Timelord) is a good offer which isn't easy to beat for other contenders.

Lillard/White/Tatum/Timelord/Zinger is a heck of a line-up.

Guys, I'll say it again, there is almost no chance the Blazers are accepting that.

Brown has 1 year left on his deal, if he's traded he can't sign the super max. His contract is fundamentally non extendable because any incentives have to be carried over into a new deal and that's going to be a no go for Brown. So any team that acquires him will have to wait until he becomes a free agent to re-sign him. And Brown is not going to be super psyched about resigning on a rebuilding POR team.

Because of all that he doesn't have that much value to POR, he has more to BOS because they can actually re-sign him without him reaching free agency. This is the whole reason everyone ws hoping Brown would make all-nba and be eligible for the supermax, because otherwise the c's would be stuck unable to extend him.

Woj is reporting that the Blazers will still sign Grant despite the Lillard trade request

Lillard/Butler and Lopez/Jrue/Middleton have a lot of wear on the tires. Will be hard for them to stay on the court.

So he’s not interested in coming to Boston?  I am so surprised.

Nope. His mouthpiece Chris Haynes literally laughed at the thought of it.

But posters here will still pine for players that don't want us.

Well, FWIW, Mark Spears said Tatum is trying to recruit Lillard to Boston.

Nets make the most sense from a trade standpoint.

The TPE they created from the Joe Harris trade yesterday means they can absorb the remaining 3 years of Jusuf Nurkic's salary in a separate deal to give Portland additional salary relief (especially important because they're still going to honor that absurd Jerami Grant deal). Then the main Lilliard deal could be Ben Simmons (salary filler, and just 2 years. Take a flier on the chance that he rehabilitates himself), Nic Claxton, Cam Thomas, and a bunch of those picks they got from Phoenix.

On the plus side,

Dame can't play any better against the Celtics than martin/Vincent did. I mean martin was scoring like 30 points and shooting 50% from 3.

Also. It was the zone that haunted us. Having a 7 3 big who can shoot and score in the post and defend the pick and roll should negate a lot of that.
