I am not sure the Formula that ESPN uses to create their ratings. I do know that they use all the stats for each player.

They have some cool analytics, Like who had the Best Games of the Season

That one is kind of fun.

This is the Formula the tESPN uses for who had the Best Games of the Season.

ESPN*: PTS + REB + 1.4*AST + STL + 1.4*BLK -.7*TO + FGM + .5*FGM -.8*(FGA-FGM) + .25*FTM - .8*(FTA-FTM)
EFF*: Efficiency of expected output. This gameday's ESPN rating total compared to the player's season-to-date average.

It is obviously impossible to really say who is the best and who had the best game. But, I do like looking at the data from the ESPN formulas.

Some of these variables feel a bit arbitrary to me.  For example, why are blocks weighted more heavily than steals?  I feel there's an argument to be made that it should be the opposite.  A steal is a gained possession.  A block may not be.  Neither is automatically an example of stellar defense; they can sometimes be a sign of gambling instead.  Overall I feel like "composite" stats like this tend to be tweaked by the creator until it shows them what they want to see.  In other words, I suspect that they had a general ranking in mind already and they futzed with the formula until it spat out a confirmation for them.

Discussion for another place, perhaps.

You’ve just described the creation of PER to a tee, so don’t feel discouraged.

Ah, thank you. I am not familiar with this statistic.

It looks a bit strange in how it values assists at 1.4 despite assists being given out so easily these days. Steals are valued less than blocks even though only the defending team only recovers blocked shots around 55% of the time whereas steals change hands 100% of the time. And only values a turnover at 0.7 rather than 1. I wonder how they came to / justify these numbers.

I am not having much luck on my google searches. ESPN stats too generic to find a good (any) answer(s). Ah well. It'll remain a mystery.

One thing I have learned through the years is that everything is a bit subjective. Meaning, whoever creates the Formula has to make the call  as to what is most important.

But, its summertime and I find it fun to look at.

I also think it created a fairly accurate top 10. Jokic and Embiid are prey much tied, which I think is true.
.Damian Lillard, PG  was higher than I would have put him, but I didn't get to see him in that many games

Best Game of the Season, Hard to Take that away from D. Mitchell:

71 PTS, 8 REBs, 11 ASTs, 1 BLK, 4 TOs.
