We got to focus on winning now
We can fire Joe latter

Fire him right after we win the championship. Like the second after...don't even give him the chance to touch that LOB Trophy  :police:

His pink slip is laying on Brads desk.

Someone with some editing skills should update that Seth Rollins Shield betrayal gif with Tatum, Joe, and Brad (or Wyc), and Udoka looking on.

If that Jaylen Brown 3 didn't happen tonight, Joe is getting pitchforked.

Told you the Celtics win in spite of him. Those were some maddening adjustments. Kornet getting killed, Horford getting run to the ground...it's time to put in Queta. Hauser is a dud? Sub him out. Tatum didn't even jog down the court and just stood there at half-court on transition like he's waiting to play hero ball in OT. Then he takes the pass and passes over for an awful turnover. Gotta take some accountability and tell your guys to get movin'! And I don't even wanna talk about the missed FTs even tho the refs kinda favored us tonight. Two blown 12-point leads. We aren't getting lucky every night.

Oh and Game 2 is on Thursday, that's the expected loss right? Pacers still haven't shot like 50% or 70% from 3 yet and opposing teams usually win those typa games.

Joe's comments/excuses in quite possibly his last press conference before his looming termination (we just know it's coming, Wyc probably doesn't like being given a heart attack):

Quote
Joe Mazzulla took to the podium for his postgame press conference. The highlights:

Jrue Holiday (28 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists) had a big night: “Jrue’s the kind of guy that’s going to impact the game in different ways every night. Tonight it was his scoring, his playmaking, and his defense, a well-rounded game by him. His poise, his demeanor throughout the game was instrumental for us.”

On the level of play: “Nothing different from what I expected. Two high-level teams competing for a great opportunity. I expect all games to be like that, and for our guys, obviously we weren’t perfect, but we maintained a level of poise and mental toughness.”

On pace of the game: “I think you have to find that balance. There’s parts that we had playing with pace, playing fast, so there’s that balance. I thought we handled it well int he first half, in the second half, you have to pick and choose your spots. For the most part, I thought we played with poise. Just going to have to find that balance — there are times where you’re going to have to play fast with them, and times where you’re going to have to execute.”

Tatum finished plus-20 on the night. How did he do it? “I think the other guys played a part in that as well. But for the most part I thought his shot selection was good, his ability to handle and screen got us open looks, and for the most part he competed defensively.”

It was so strange I commented on it during the game there was 3 possessions in a row where Tatum literally stood at the logo just standing there while the other 4 guys all just looked at each other and put up some horrible shot. Yea some of that could be on Tatum not demanding the ball but man as a coach put him in a good position or get him involved in some type of action. That was horrible

That was the Pacers chance, Boston wins game 2 big.  May have a poor shooting night in Indiana and lose 1, but this isn't going past 5.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

To his credit, Joe did make some adjustments in the last minute of the OT where he let White handle the ball that led to Tatum's 6 points.
I do hope that he will continue doing this and get rid of the predictable Tatum's iso.

Two plays I liked from Joe:

1.  The challenge on the Horford goaltending call.  A lot of coaches won't use a challenge there, because it was so early in the game.

2.  The last play.  I'm not sure if JB was the primary option on that play or not, but it was a well-designed play that the players executed well.  Indy was probably shocked that it wasn't a Tatum fallaway after dribbling down the clock.

Horford played 40 minutes and got killed in the pick and roll. That’s trouble and on the coach. Kornet and houser are useless. Explain to me why we don’t use other guys. Why is it that every other team uses different lineups except the Celtics? You had all year to try stuff. They weren’t threatened during the season. If they lose he has to go. Such a terrible coach

"Joe Mazzulla’s unwillingness in earlier playoff games to give some run to Xavier Tillman and to a lesser degree Oshae Brissett makes them pretty much unplayable in this series, which is too bad, because Luke Kornet and Sam Hauser were eaten alive by the Pacers’ rapid and efficient offense in Game 1"

Horford played 40 minutes!  Are you kidding me Joe?  You'll kill him with minutes like that!

I hate defending Joe, but who plays center if Al is tired, Kornet isn't effective, and Tillman and KP are out?

Queta could conceivably give a couple of energy minutes, but if the problem is defense (which it was) he's unlikely to help.  Brissett isn't big enough to cover centers.

Now, I'm skeptical that Joe would have played Tillman if he was available, but I can't kill the guy for a hypothetical.  Last night, we were simply short-handed in the front court.

Small ball. Bill Simmons said this and he’s correct. Why can’t Tatum play the 5? Turner gonna post him up? Really? I’ll take my chances. My point being you all year to prepare for all scenarios. That’s what the regular season is for. Now you like “what do you want him to do “ Roy, he had all year. That’s bad coaching.

Exactly. This team is so ill prepared and was extremely lucky last night. Joe got bailed out. If I see Al get cooked on one more pick and roll without some adjustments I’m gonna smash my tv.
