Just announced fox is doubtful for game 5 with a broken finger. Butler may now miss tonight’s game with injury. This is on top to injuries that caused missed games for Embid, Gianni’s, morant, herro and Leonard. It’s starting to feel like this is kind of ruining the playoffs. I get there are injuries every year but like 7 all stars missing game with new injuries in first round?

It sucks. I was enjoying these playoffs at the start especially the PHO vs LAC series. I have checked out at this point.

Most of these teams are so banged up that they are nothing more than .500 clubs talent wise. The quality of basketball is rubbish. This is supposed to be best basketball in the world -- it is barely scraping by as mediocre.

The Sun's Clippers match up, had the potential to be an all-time great first round series, that was worthy of the conference finals.

You forgot about Paul George too. BTW, I don't believe Embiid is injured. I think the Nets were so bad, that Doc thought he could close the series without Embiid and allow him more rest.

Embid is definitely injured (or 76ers would be risking a significant fine). 50% at best for game 1 one next series https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/joel-embiid-injury-update-doc-rivers-says-hes-not-sure-if-76ers-star-could-return-in-first-round/amp/

I fully expect Embiid to be ready for game 1. The Sixers are worried about facing the Celtics. That Nets series was a joke.

Hope the guys when they start banging bodies with Embiid to score or defend, try aiming for the knees to weaken it. Or keep making him twist around to wear him out. You know...playoff basketball plays.

I guess playoffs are a battle of attrition as well.

Way too many games and not enough rest days. Cause and effect.
The NBA should modernize. Playing 82 games plus (best-of-7)-playoff-series is nuts.
Lots of players are already exhausted when the regular season is over.

First of all there's hardly any merit with a best-of-7 series in comparison with a best-of-5.
That's just a statistical fact. When a series goes 3-0 or 3-1 up, it's basically done.
Easy fix.

Regular season should never have back-to-backs. Don't have to be a exercise physiologist to realize that's not a viable rest period between games. The NBA seems to plan on a small expansion. Well if they add two teams (Vegas and Seattle?), then just play every team twice and the new number of regular season games would be 62.

Almost every playoffs have been diminished by injuries. It's nothing new. On top of that the average level of players is higher than ever and so is the pressure thus star players can't just "coast" games.

Not kinda, they have ruined many of the series.  :P

Especially the Suns/Clippers. Games 1 and 2 were great. After Kawhi went down had no interest in watching. Too bad.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I’m surprised any Celtics fan from 2009-2012 wouldn’t already have this knowledge.  Injuries always happen and affect series.  It feels a little bit more prevalent this year, but many times it’s the healthiest team that wins the ring.

Maybe the players shouldn't be flopping and hitting the floor multiple times a game. Over the course of 82 games, that has to take an effect on your body.

It's always a big part of the playoffs.

I agree that there are always injuries. However it is not that common to have 4 all stars get injured and miss a game in the first 4 games of series in the first round.

Giannis
Embid
Leonard
Morant

Then you have Fox doubtful for the next game.

Don’t think 5 all stars injured in 4 games is actually very common but if someone can prove otherwise I would be fascinated by it.
