Ime would be a great fit there. He could turn that team into a defensive nightmare with their size, length, and athleticism.

They still need another offensive star though.

I hadn't given much thought to TOR but they clearly did underachieve.  They have some talent.  I thought Poeltl was a great pick up for them, a good fit.  A new coach is probably a smart change.

Not sure who they can bring in though.  VanVleet has his player option coming up.  Trent also.  Not sure either will leave, but both could.  And they may not be able to keep Poeltl who is a UFA.

I may be off base with this, but Nurse reminds me a bit of George Karl, in that he's a good coach who can get through to a team for maybe two or three seasons, but they'll eventually tune him out.

I've been hearing a lot of Ime rumors...thought he's a strong candidate for the Rockets vacancy?

Yeah, I think he's a bad fit in Houston. Ime probably a better fit there. Also think Harden to Houston would be a disaster.

Some Mavs fans wanting to fire J Kidd and hire Nurse instead.

Good idea.

Seems to be true for most coaches at the pro level - the NBA players think they know more than the coach anyway.

Remember Kyrie claiming that the Nets won't really have one head coach, but that he, Durant and Steve Nash would collaborate to coach the team ........ and run the organization as well, if I remember right. That's the extreme.

Also remember Larry Bird saying that he would tend to listen less after 3 years with a head coach, which was one reason he gave for stepping down from the Pacers job.

He should be unless Toronto signed him to an extension?

Edit: not yet, but supposedly waiting to offer him a 4 year contract after the season ends.

Yes, he is an UFA, he can sign anywhere he wants.  Probably TOR can offer him the most.  All the reports I am seeing predict that he will resign with TOR, but nothing is for sure.

Toronto was 15-11 after the Poeltl trade.  He seems like a good fit.  He seemed to like it there.   Him resigning makes a ton of sense for both parties.

The Raptors should've tanked this year and traded away their vet pieces. That team as constructed is not a contending team. But the blame always falls on the coach.

That's interesting because I think Ime had some Thibs like tendencies in terms of running his starters into the ground with minutes and wearing out his welcome that way.

Bold prediction.

Doc does seem to be wearing out his welcome there.  They may well move on from Doc.
