I may be wrong but I definitely think he can get the MLE but not much more unless he gets lucky and has multiple bad teams vying for his services thinking they can get a reliable starter for 13-14 per year.  Grant IMO really regressed this year with his D.  I just can't see him being resigned if JB makes an All NBA team and extends at the max.  The C's needs some young cheap rotational players that can do what Grant does with those limited minutes.  I also think that with Gallo signed for next year and Muscala they let Grant walk and maybe to a sign and trade if it doesn't hard cap them (not sure of the S&T rules) to get a TPE to use at the deadline.

Based on what we’ve heard from the CBA negotiations, a 4-year MLE will come out to a little above $53 million, or $13.3 million per year.  Maybe that will change once the full deal is released, but people need to realize that Grant’s $15 million contract demands are only marginally above the MLE that most think he will get.

So he’s likely not going to get $15-20M per year.

I think he will.  I’ll bet you 100 Tommy Points he either signs a deal worth at least $15 million per year this summer, or takes the QO and gets such a deal next summer.

I'll take that bet.

Roy is like the US Treasury.  He prints his own TPs, and no debt is too big.

Definitely no backing out.  I’ve got you and Roy both, and enough TPS for two others to join in, lest I leverage myself.

I agree. New CBA will make it difficult for Celtics to get quality guys with MLE. I think Grant gets at least $15 mm per this summer from Celtics. He won’t go to free agency.

I think the whole contract extension issue got in his head this season and has affected his game.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Inclined to agree with you, but also worth considering that he's still improving - while he's taken a slight step back from last year overall his floor is still higher than what we saw in his rookie & sophomore seasons.

I agree, he is better than he was as a second year player.  Does that necessarily mean that he's still improving, though?  He wouldn't be the first player who reached his ceiling as a third year.

Also true - he may just be a guy who can give you a per 36 statline of 11-6-3. He is rebounding and passing more this year, which is good, even if his shooting has taken a hit and he's overall less effective on offense this season.

I think it depends on how much stock we put into his cold spells & hot streaks, and whether we think they're aberrations or indicative of his overall play. I'm not in love with his game, but I don't see much either way to be sure if he's peaked just yet.

Yeah, I'm basically in that boat.  There's room for improvement, but it's not a given that he has significant upside.

The new CBA gives Grant a little leverage, because we need the contracts now.  There will be few ways to improve in the future, so we're going to have to keep chunk salaries.
