My inside Patriots sauce told me a deal is in place to trade Lamar to NE for Mac Jones, this years 14th pick, and the 76th pick (via Carolina). They're working on the details of the contract, but it's essentially a 5 year, $250M deal, with $180M guaranteed.

I won't reveal who it is, but will say my sauce was originally from Buffalo NY.

That would be a very bad trade with that contract tagged on

I'd rather have an extra 1st than Mac Jones.  Ugh

Why aren't the Ravens working to improve their offense? Agholor isn't very good.

It's almost like they were getting ready to lose Lamar, similar to how the Patriots were ready to move on from Brady.

Play hardball for a new contract and refuse to fill the offense in with talent.... The Ravens are making an active decision here.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

The Ravens had to cut people just to get the cap room to offer Lamar the franchise tag.  That is one of the reasons they did the non-exclusive tag because to do the exclusive they would have had to cut another 12 million in salary.  They have basically no cap room.

Burrow's rumored extension is 4 years, 214 million with 185 million guaranteed.  That tacks on to the end of his current deal which has 2 years left.  So Burrow will be a Bengal for 6 more years if that actually gets signed.  Also, not fully guaranteed so apparently no one else is getting the Watson treatment.  Not sure how that will affect Lamar and the Ravens.

I think Lamar is fighting the good fight here. It is ridiculous that NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. Lamar can get hurt, play poorly for a year, then get cut. That is the team's right to cut, but they should still have to pay out the contract they signed. In effect, teams are getting away with signing contracts in bad faith.

If no one trusts Lamar's health, he will get paid less. His (and other contracts) should still be guaranteed. Why would anyone want to sign a contract if one party can violate it so easily? The player's union is getting screwed.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Isn't that just a projection thrown out by PFF? Burrow will likely get way more IMO. The guy is almost undoubtedly a Top-3 QB in the league

well that will tack onto the 2 remaining (so 6 total) and would have a huge signing bonus.  That is the sort of deal that I think he'd take and that the Bengals would do.  Remember all guaranteed money has to go into escrow.  You start tacking on years and keep a similar percentage guaranteed it becomes too large an investment for the poorest owners in the sport (their only income is the Bengals and that franchise doesn't generate cash like others do).

I guess Burrow would take it, knowing the cap will rise with all the TV deals and such coming so he can potentially re-up for even more later.
