Just curious. I think we're all hoping (and expecting) for a move or two, even if minor.

But if Boston actually does nothing at all, how would you feel?

I personally would say 8. I really do think this is a contender and it'd be really frustrating if they didn't add anyone to help (backup wing and/or depth big). There should be a lot of options out there, even on the buyout market potentially

If we do nothing, I'm going to be disappointed, because it means that the useless Justin Jackson is likely to stay on the roster.  That reaction would be subject to change based upon who becomes available in the buyout market, although I would still be disappointed that we only had room for one buyout free agent, rather than two.  Similarly, I'd become more upset if our rivals land impact players with packages that we easily could have matched or exceeded.

I'd go with a 7 on the scale, but again, that could be mitigated significantly if we add actual size and wing depth through other means.

It depends what else happens.  I think the trade market is going to be very dry, so if our primary competitors stand pat, then I’ll be a little disappointed, but that also might mean a few better players hit the buyout market for us to use the DPE on, so it could turn out fine.

If, on the other hand, it’s an active trade market but the Celtics are left on the side, I will be highly disappointed.

So right now I’m putting 3, because I think no one’s going to do much, but I’m ready for that to switch to an 8 if my expectations are wrong.

1 -- nothing needs to be done.

It would be nice to have some small move to reinforce bench but even without that the team is in a fantastic position to win the Championship so all good.

I think it's fine if we don't do anything but then (as in most years) we're gambling on health. If we're healthy, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't be headed back to the Finals, since the roster is essentially the same but slightly better.

after letting 2 TPE's expire for nothing, we have to do something. wholly unacceptable to do nothing.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

6.    I would be disappointed that the Celtics did not upgrade the end of their bench with a player or two to help relieve minutes during the regular season.

I expect the Celtics to be the "third" team in a bigger trade taking on one contract into the TPE to help a team not have to waive a player.

Or just a buyout player.

at this point, probably about a 5 based on 2 TPEs - 1 really large one in fact - being allowed to expire unused.

at a minimum, Jackson should be cut loose in favor of just about anyone with a pulse that has some NBA experience.  wasted roster spot.

as others have mentioned, it depends on what the competition is able to do in terms of trades and what the buyout/waiver options look like.  I suspect there will be precious few players made available that would be any better than the 13th man on a mediocre roster.  however, if someone actually useful is cut loose from another team, I expect Brad to throw the DPE or whatever tool he has at his disposal to outbid the competition for that player.

I only react negatively when another team is able to make a deal that would have really helped us and where we could have made a stronger offer.

2. This team is ready to win a championship. I’m concerned about load management- not adding more pieces and trying to work them into the locker room/rotation.

I'm ok with it. I don't want a move that is for the sake of a move, like taking out a No13 on the rotation for another No14 who won't play anyway. Might as well shuffle deck chairs on the Titanic. The moves that I think would be meaningful for us might be out of our reach anyway. Like I'm not sure how much trading for Nerlens Noel moves the needle for us. It would be an insurance move to cover for Timelord, but other than him being a buyout we would probably have to ship out Gallo's contract. You could argue that Gallo hasn't added any value and if we trade for Noel and he sits the bench we are at a wash anyway. Then again you only care about insurance when you have an accident and need it  Olynyk would add value, but what would we give up to Danny to get him?

Maybe we will get lucky and get some buyout candidates that other teams drop...but I'm not holding my breath. I can't be too critical though, the last deadline we were pretty active, we shipped out Richardson, Schroder and a bunch of also rans for White and Theis. Then in the offseason Brad traded for Malcolm and Danilo and signed Blake. So I can't really say they're not doing anything  :police:

I think we are 1 move away from a NBA Championship.  CBS and ownership need to do whatever it takes for multiple Championship chances.

If we do nothing,  we could still win the Championship but it's going to be a lot harder.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

During last year's playoff run, the Celtics beat a dysfunctional Nets team, and then two teams with key injuries (Bucks and Heat). Then got beat down by the first healthy/functional team they faced in the playoff in the Finals.

I do agree the Celtics are better with the addition of Brogdon. However, I don't think making a deep run is a given either.

I think fans would have a right to be livid. I put a 6 only because I’ll
Be less upset because I don’t believe what Wyc says about” it’s this year.” I just dnt think he’ll overpay to try to win it all. He’ll hinge on we are the favorite now . Hope to be proven wrong.
