just curious -- for those watching the national broadcast, what could they possibly be talking about since they don't talk about the Celtics unless they're doing poorly?

This is such a false narrative. Of course national media talks about the Celtics. Doris Burke is an announcer tonight. And she raves - and I mean, RAVES - about Jaylen Brown constantly. She also hypes up Marcus Smart a lot.

If anything, local media is a lot more dismissive of the Celtics than national pundits.
have to disagree on the national bit -- when I've been stuck with only the national crews on TNT or ABC, they are rarely positive about the Celtics and most frequently discussing the other team.   always bugs the hell out of me.
I find this to be generally true EXCEPT for Doris and Stan Van Gundy. It seems like the other national announcers just don't know anything about the Celtics except the headlines and the game before them. Doris and Stan actually know about the team and can talk in depth.

Thank you. TP.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Doris waxes poetic about Jaylen and Marcus regularly. SVG does too - he's also a big Tatum fan.

The Celtics get far more love in national media than they do in local media and it's not really even close.

Yeah, she's not my favorite, but she definitely seems more knowledgeable about the C's than most other broadcasters. I sometimes get her confused with Jackie Mac given her coverage of the C's.

As for SVG, he's actually one of my favorite broadcasters, at least of the national tv guys. I've always been intrigued by him as a potential coach for this group. (Ducks in cover haha)

We can agree to disagree. As I said, I think Felger and Mazz - the biggest local Boston sports guys - are frequently hostile about this team win or lose. They've tapped into that loud mouth, incel demographic and fans don't call it out enough. But god forbid Doris Burke compliments one of our players and then compliments a player on another team, then she's insufferable.

Her favoritism for one team or another is not what makes her insufferable.

It's her voice and her yelling into the mic. She's just awful, whoever she is complimenting.

She yells into the mic? Scal is louder. Perk is louder... I guess that women who don't whisper are yelling. The crux of the issue here is that some just think it's better for women to be seen and not heard.

And I'm not looking for a back and forth here. Just going on years worth of posts and at this point, I'm not changing my mind.

Not even a political thread and I hear this ignorance.

I'm not local, so I just know Mike and Scal. Stan gets really crazy for Timelord.

We're getting really sloppy. That's bad, lazy TOs by the Jays. Look lackadaisical out there.

Man JB going off from 3.  Great to see after he's struggled from 3 this season.

If you ever want to venture into the darkness, Felger and Mazz are available online. They really hate this team and they're incredibly ill-informed about basketball. Their coverage of the team is reprehensible but some C's fans line up for it and you can see it parroted back here. It's embarrassing.

when the celtics play their best basketball there is not a team in the nba who has a chance against them...even if that other team plays its best basketball.

barring injuries, this should be a very exciting playoffs.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

i actually like reggie miller doing color. he’s very insightful and his love for the game is authentic. his celtic hate doesn’t bother me, particularly because he earned it the hard way, and i respect guys (like bird) who hate their foes. plus, reggie on the dan patrick show is gold for those who loved the 80’s game.

Tatum's gone cold this half.
