It's a long way until February, but a lot of folks are arguing that our roster may be set until buyout season.  If that's so, who are the potential buyouts?  I've picked a few, based upon the following criteria:  they're in the last year of their contract; their current team isn't looking to contend; and the player will likely have limited value in a potential sign-and-trade next summer.  Here's the very short list:

Josh Richardson
Russell Westbrook (vomit)
Terrence Ross
Kelly Oubre (?) -- he's more likely to be traded than bought out, in my opinion

In short, I don't see the buyout market solving much of anything.  I'm happy to be wrong, though.  Who is out there that is likely to break free that would be an upgrade over Jackson, Vonleh or Kornet?

I'M THE SILVERBACK GORILLA IN THIS MOTHER... AND DON'T NONE OF YA'LL EVER FORGET IT!

KP / Giannis / Turkuglu / Jrue / Curry
Sabonis / Brand / A. Thompson / Oladipo / Brunson
Jordan / Bowen

Redshirt:  Cooper Flagg

Not the best options. I’m not convinced Westbrick would be the worst buyout signing, though. If he doesn’t go along with the program, just cut him. If he does, in an attempt to reposition himself for free agency as a more mature Westbrick nailing his second chance, he could bring a spark off the bench at times like Nate Robinson circa 2010 playoffs. Dude can still pass and facilitate. His D is much like Pritchard’s D (as in D for deficient), but against second units when paired with D-White or Brogdon it would surely be good enough.

Westbrick ought to be thinking the big paydays are over and trying to be a 6MoTY on multiple championship teams is the best way to cement a HOF legacy. Without some rings, dude might get shutout of the HOF. Definitely the worst player on the NBA 75 team and if anybody gets dropped from the NBA 75 when they do the NBA 100, it’s bound to be Westbrick. It’s gotten that dire for him. Hopefully the people around him will knock some sense into him, and he’ll come help a team like the Celtics win the title by being a consummate team player off the bench.

Way, way too early! However, with the best record in the league without Timelord playing, what is there to solve?  Assuming things hold track, the only reason I'd make a move would be if it would improve the chances against the Bucks.

Richardson would be nice, he fit in with our players when he was here. The thing is we might not have enough playing time for him, given its in a position where we have great depth (although he can play the 3 some)
