JD throws lobs better than Smart

Smart better be hearing the footsteps!

 ;D

He likes setting up guys and works hard on defense . At his age that’s a good start .

Juhann Begarin's still pretty raw, but he's often looked like the most athletic guy on the court this week. Still just 19 years old.

JD is definitely going to be a headache for Smart and White during practice. Marcus is a bit bigger at 6’4”/220lbs, but JD is a better athlete. They are going to have some battles for sure.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

We're unlikely to get the championship game FWIW.

I don’t want any of the SL guys added to the main roster, but a few have flashed potential.

This team is fun.

JD shows great promise. Starting to like that pick. He is an elite athlete with good feel as a point guard.

Davison and Begarin being solid defensively and shining on offense at 19 bodes well for their future. They’d absolutely be 1st rounders if they stayed in college another year and entered the 2023 draft.

Hopefully, they can develop fast enough to stay with us. I’d try to get Begarin to play overseas for one more season, but would sign him and Davison to two ways if push came to shove. Even if they don’t play for the team, they can gain trade value playing in the G League.

Kabengele, Ryan, and Jackson earned themselves camp invites after their SL performances. The Celtics scouting department rocks.

How many slots still available that could be filled by SL players?

Who are the top 5 keepers?

We have
8 holdovers
2 players acquired
2 internal signings
1 rookie signing (2-way)
13 signed

You have 16-17 slots to fill, excluding G-League. BS is still talking of signing a vet big, so you'd have 2-3 slots to fill and 6 guys to fill them.

Begarin
Ryan
Jackson
Kabengele
Thomas
Williams

Talking heads saying Jackson's going to make a 15-man roster (it could be elsewhere depending on money). I think Kabengele belongs on one too. Williams seems like a G-Leaguer to me at this point. Begarin could be on the roster or stashed another year. Ryan seems more likely for a 2-way or a G-League stint. Thomas is a 2-way or better. I don't see them all staying with the Cs.

Good analysis. Stash Begarin one more year, offer G-league to Williams but he may go elsewhere.

That leaves:
Ryan, Jackson, Kabengele, Thomas
for 2-3 slots.

It's not just that. Begarin plays the right way. He moves the ball, cuts off ball, pushes the ball up the court, rebounds well for his size, and tries to be a pest defensively. I really like him.

JD is the man today.

Great pick by Stevens. Davison is an NBA player with fantastic upside.

I missed the game, but for those who watched, did Davison look as good as his box score?  28 points on 14 shots, 10 assists, 5 boards, only 3 turnovers?  Hard to imagine he couldn’t have looked amazing.
