It’s pretty obvious this is the Celtics… you really think it is even moderately debatable?

I'm not sure what others think.  I considered making a poll on the Heat's board (if they have one), but that sounded like a lot of extra work.

Also, I'm curious about how much others believe this matters.  If it's a landslide in favorite of the Celtics, does this give our base more hope?

The heat don’t have much of a national following. They briefly did when Lebron fans liked them, but generally they don’t just have much history. I think their only retired numbers were Tim hardaway mourning, Shaq, Wade, Bosh and Michael Jordan (it’s insane they retired Shaq). They also clearly have less marketable stars, butlers Michelob ultra commercials aside. If you are asking if the refs will favor the Celtics with this, I have no clue.

There have been past NBA playoff games that certainly make you wonder if anticipated TV ratings of future games has some influence on the outcome - how that might happen is up for discussion. While it is very hard to imagine the league commissioner making a call to the officials working the game and making his wishes on the winner known, there are all sorts of ways for team popularity to have some kind of impact on game results. Remember 1984 when that little Red Auerbach-hating twit of a commissioner David Stern made the comment that he would prefer the Celtics-Lakers finals series to go the full 7 games. Larry Bird jumped all over Stern for that.

Gotta be C’s Warriors.

Dubs are always a draw but this C’s team that has beaten KD’s nets and Giannis’ Bucks has drawn a lot of ratings as well.

Miami doesn’t have the following like the Celtics has
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I mean, it’s pretty obvious what the results are going to be On this site. On a neutral site it should be the C’s anyway, though. Heat have one star and a bunch of role players. Celtics are by far the more exciting team.

Celtics in the Finals is always ood for the league.  They have all that history and a huge international following.  Plus Tatum is moving right up there with the most marketed NBA player.  Gotta sell those Flamin Hot chips, right?

Go Celts!
Yup

Celtics has a better chance beating the warriors than Miami..I think Warriors would win 4-1 against Miami
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Tatum, Brown, Timelord, and Smart are all more interesting than anyone on the Heat. C's also have a longer window and a higher ceiling.

They are all freaks, for different reasons.

And Warriors/C's should be a good series while Miami would get rolled. So fewer games and worse ratings per game.

Celtics

Butler's great, but he's no Lebron/Giannis and outside of him idk who else they really have that really generates much interest. Bam? Herro? Herro's kind of popular but he's not a star either.

Combined Statistical Areas by Rank, Population,

05th   9.7   San Franciso - Oakland
06th   8.4   Boston - Providence
11th   6.9   Miami - Fort Lauderdale

New England fans follow pro sports more than any other region I've seen. New England pro sports fans who no longer live in the region also retain their loyalties more so than people from other regions. You can see that on any away NBA game in basketball and other sports. Also, people also hate our teams more than other cities' teams because of their success.

In this case, Butler's their biggest star and not much of a draw while the Cs are an up-and-comer with two stars.
