Problem wasn't the shots smart took, the problem was they milked the clock too much just like they did in game 5 against the Bucks.

They played the NBA version of prevent defense. Go for the kill and play further win instead of not to lose.

I understand they milked the clock but all of Smarts shots were wide open.  He hit's 1 of them the game is sealed.  A few were in and out.  If you get an open shot it's a good shot.  Especially if you can run the clock down as well. It's the same as Butler.  Open shots need made.  If you hit open shots you will win the game.

Yeah I didn't have a problem with those shot.  I didn't like how they were dribbling down the clock to the point where they were forcing themselves to take a quick last second attempt.

Yeah, that’s what bothered me too.  Up 10 with a minute to go, that’s fine.  But they went into a shell with three minutes left, and made it very easy on Miami’s D.  It was too early to adopt that strategy.

Smart with an idiotic comment, saying fans "didn't believe in them" earlier in the season and then "jumped back on the bandwagon."

And whose fault is that, Marcus? You guys weren't passing the ball, weren't playing defense,  and were losing to teams fielding multiple gleaguers in the starting lineup.

Crummy comment.  In the foxhole, I want to be next to the guy who's a little rough around the edges, though.

Me as well, tarheels.

Marcus needs to remember all the Garden full-capacity sellouts during the 1st half of the season when the team was an embarrassment given the amount of talent on the roster. Inconsistent effort and playing bad basketball. Still, all those "bandwagon" fans kept packing the place to watch the games and support the team. A real asinine comment, Marcus.
It's not really incorrect at all. If you go look at some game threads from December vs March it will be pretty different

Yeah people should stop acting as if they were believers the whole time. Im guessing this struct a nerve because its true.

Speak for yourself.  I've been pumping this team's tires since they nearly shocked the Cavs in 2018. Doesn't mean we should applaud games where they are playing iso ball and dogging it on defense.

Imagine paying $600 for tickets and then watching them stagger around the court like a bunch of zombies.

This team was unwatchable. Thank god Ime finally got through to them.

I agree.  I've been watching 90% of the games each year for the last 20 years no matter how bad they were.  As a fan I appreciate good basketball.  I definitely felt they were going no where while playing the way they did in the first few months of the season.  You can't tell me they would not be in the lottery if that didn't change.  When they bought in they started playing championship basketball and we as fans saw it.  It's not a bandwagon fan to feel the team stunk while there record was under .500, they turned the ball over too much, played too much hero ball and weren't together.  We as fans have seen what it takes to be a championship team.  The 1st half of the season was not it.  I'm not a bandwagon fan but as Bird said you can't fool Boston fans.  We know good basketball and bad basketball.  They are still not playing great basketball and if they can figure that out this team will win multiple chips starting hopefully this year.

I remember 4 years ago after losing Game 7 feeling real sad and it was also Memorial Day the next day. Went to the mall with family but still felt sad/bummed out. Now today, going to the mall on Memorial Day and feeling so happy of course after last night's win  ;D

It's understandable because everyone watching and commenting was doing so in the heat of the moment, and because Smart missed the shots. If you go back and watch it again with the anxiety gone, it's clear that they were open shots and Smart was 3-7 at that point. He's not the greatest shooter but he had been hitting them and they were loading up on Tatum and Brown. It's just...he missed, and it was a close game with a Miami run ongoing, so he quickly became persona non grata to everyone. Especially since in G6 he made some bad decisions and played some hero ball while not 100%. He had a much better game tonight.

If anything the thing to be critical of was our defense slipped in those last couple minutes. During that 11-0 run the Heat made 3 field goals at the rim (Strus dunk, Dipo and Lowry layups). Strus made a difficult 3 that was well contested but the layups were bad slippage. But for Buckets' 3 they were in much better position to contest a drive at the rim because JB (guarding Dipo) and JT (guarding Strus) were back with Al. Buckets' probably could have drove and tried to get a foul, or maybe JT would have had to leave Strus to help, but he decided to shoot, and his shot was also relatively open. Like Smart, he just missed.

I said going in that I didn't think Horford could have two bad games in a row, and he played well last night. Yeah shooting-wise, not that great, but he finished with 5/14/3, and every one of his 14 rebounds felt monumental. Played great defense too and had some nice blocks. Ended up with the highest +/- on the C's with +10 and as a result, he gets his first trip the NBA Finals! I think you could see how passionate he was the way he threw that ball in the air to seal the deal, and also how he played in Game 4 of the Bucks series.

Also, funny how Horford isn't typically a rebounder but then he comes up with 14 (!) boards last night.

What a game! C’s almost gave it away in the end there but fortunately, Butler had used up all his lucky threes in game 6.

I thought it was a somewhat rough outing for the officials. They bit on a lot of the fakes Lowry threw at them. Otherwise, a pretty good game I thought. C’s were uncharacteristically fouling a lot in that 2nd quarter. And they swallowed the whistle a whole lot down the stretch.

It was also a classic roller coaster, Marcus Smart experience. Some “no no no, YES!” shots and some “you gotta make that” misses. Heat were trying to make anyone other than Tatum beat them and Smart was happy to try and prove them wrong. Jaylen also faced some doubles and I was happy to see him not panic and not turn the ball over. But also, it showed me that we need JT and JB to play off each other more. JT was a terrific playmaker but he looked even better off the ball, cutting.

Well deserved win! This game and this series was a LOT tougher than I thought it would be. This team has battled thru a lot of adversity this season and it’s amazing that they’re in the finals today.

Let’s go C’s!!!

Tatum comments on reaching the Finals!
We've got a young star player who works hard at his game, is still improving, carries himself the right way and likes being in Boston. We as Celtics fans should be thankful. His passing is probably the main reason why the C's won this series. He's taken that part of his game to the next level.

Not 100% sure but I'm guessing they'll travel there tomorrow?

I heard an anecdotal story that they were traveling from Miami to SF today and was curious if it actually happened.
