I reject the premise of the thread.
I will agree that there are times when vocal "leadership" comes across as hollow. I thought that was the case with Gerald Wallace speaking up in the past, and was definitely the case with Tristan Kardashian last year. They had no credibility to speak.
And, I was somewhat sympathetic to your point at the beginning of this season, when Marcus called out his teammates. At that point, he was coming off a full season where he hadn't walked the walk.
But now? After the guy played amazing defense, hustled all over the court, and effectively led the offense? After the guy has played through pain? He's a guy that inspires, rather than creates resentment. He's not taking credit for the team's success, he's trying to lead his team to build on that success and not to backslide. Is that a bad thing?
But, I don't read every media story. What is it that he has said that is a potential distraction?
