Adebayo mocking Jaylen Brown after the game: "I feel like our energy shifted."

Heat are clowning the C’s. Butler was mugging the whole 4th and after Nesmith’s block on Dipo, Butler drew the foul on him and pretty much gave him a mocking look too like “you really think you can guard me?”

Heat have all the makings of a lesser talented team that will bully you mentally and that’s how they beat you. I do think C’s have the mental fortitude this year to bounce back. Maybe not in years prior but I’m a big believer that the team has taken the next step

Yep, these Celtics have responded to adversity before.  We dropped Game 1 against Milwaukee and had to play Game 2 without Smart.  We won.

The Celtics played horrifically in one quarter.  In the other three, we outplayed the Heat, without two starters.  I wouldn't bury the Celtics just yet.

That's what I've been saying. Then really blew game 5 and won an elimination game on the road against Milwaukee.

We get horford/smart back for next game I expect us to win pretty handily and respond.

Exactly. We were the better team tonight and over the course of 7 games, the better team usually wins. As was the case in the Milwaukee series. And I think it’ll be the case here.

hoping that serves as extra motivation for the J's to player smarter and with effort in game 2.  Jaylen stunk until the final few minutes and Tatum was a mess in the second half.

no one played a great game though I thought Nesmith did respectably in his minutes on defense.  that shot though, yeesh.    Timelord looked good in his return but his effectiveness with and without Al in games really showed.

This team's been resilient all year. I expect they'll come out strong and much better for a full 48-minutes in Game 2. It was never going to be easy last night even if we were healthy given the short turnaround, but if we can get Smart and Horford back for Game 2 (or even just 1 of them), I like our chances of winning Game 2. Still a long series to go.

That was a brutal game last night no doubt but ultimately that atrocious 3rd quarter is what did us in. I can't imagine we'll have another one of those (I hope...)

Here is a list of things that bother me about the game:

1. Coach Udoka, rightfully so, lost his cool and showed signs of frustration. Admittedly, it was with cause given this teams lack of focus in Q3 but he has been a steady hand and it worried me that when placed in hot water he responded so visibly frustrated.
2. Tatum seemingly gave up on so many possessions. That series of plays where he turns the ball over on two offensive trips down the floor were so maddening.
3. Grant Williams needs to know his role. Yes we need leaders who are vocal but don’t ever talk back to coach. Ever. And I saw that happen where he faced up on Udoka when Ime was giving him constructive criticism.

I still think we win this series. In fact I think we win the next 4 quite honestly. I think the Heat are overmatched by us: last night obviously didn’t reflect that. But we were without Smart and Horford and we lost our composure. I’m most frustrated that we could’ve really set a tone and took game 1. But I think this team grows from this loss. Brick by brick…

I'm surprised he doesn't lose his cool more often given the amount of times in the playoffs we had a lead a then lost it due to idiot ball.

Yeah I'd be angry too if I keep seeing my team play idiot ball. Sometimes, need to scream and yell at his guys to get the point across and get it in their heads.

I agree.  I like that Udoka has more of a hard edge than Brad.  Sometimes guys need to be chewed out.

It's okay to scream and yell as long as it's few and far between. You can lose a team if you are just a constant yeller. Make the yelling mean something and that way it doesn't become white noise.

that is same way i coach my teams. now it is fine to holler as game is going on for certain sets or plays switches, adjustments, etc. but as far as chewing out actual players, yup. you cannot just do that non stop they will fold up and be useless and not listen.

To whom does playing every other day favor? Has to be the Heat right?

When we get Horford and Smart back, we'll have a deeper team so the schedule will favour us. They will tire. Get worn down.

we coulda won last night had we only had a "mediocre" third. instead it was a fukishima meltdown unfortunately.

i still expect us to reel off 4 straight wins IF we get AL and MARCUS back in game 2 healthy and ready to go, get our split in miami

win 2  at home

close out in miami in 5

altho i predicted celtics in 6. miami did not impress me last night. we can beat this team in 5.

that loss was more on us than what they did. JMO.

LET'S GO CELTICS!
