Pierce and Walker should not be mentioned in the same breath as Bird/McHale; Cousy/Sharman/ Hondo/JoJo or even Tiny/Cowens
I don't think that's fair.

They might be #4 on that list of duos but in 2001-02, they were the Celtics offense and they led a gritty defense to the conference finals. They deserve a lot of respect.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that nobody has mentioned the Pierce-Walker duo yet

Walker was an inefficient volume scorer. In his Boston seasons he shot 33% from 3 and only managed .484 true shooting. For perspective, that puts him about 3% lower than Smart in true shooting on Smart’s career (including some truly awful seasons) and 6% below what Smart is giving us this year. ‘Toine couldn’t get to the line to make up for the poor shotmaking. The four assists per game were OK but nothing special.

He can’t get past the bouncer.

Edit: it occurs to me that the tweet I responded to might’ve been a little sarcastic?

Antoine also led the Celtics in assists a couple of times. He was undisciplined in a variety of ways and never reached his potential but his versatility (both offensively and defensively) is underrated.

For an offensive thread including RWII means expanding the duo to a trio.
In that 86-87 season Chief averaged 17.5 ppg, Robs at 10.

Rob doesn't have Chief's post game or jumper, but he's not currently a liability of offense.
Rob's a good target, maybe the J's improve their assist numbers by finding him a little more often.
He's on Par with Chief as far as a screener, maybe a little better passer, and both are/were good offensive rebounders.
They are similar FT% shooters, maybe RWII can get to the line a little more.
