Who is better? White & Theis or Richardson, Romeo, Enes, Bruno? I like White & Theis better but not liking the firsts they traded

I'm not super worried about the first. We use to criticize DA for being stingy with them. Stevens has had to over the summer and the deadline rebuild the team so the start moving forward around the Js.

While it's not a huge step, White and Theis contracts are just bug enough to use for a bigger trade which we really didn't have the last few years. It was either huge contracts or little ones. Hard to make moves. White is a bit if a friendlier trade chip over Smart, but also makes Smart easier to move this summer for an other piece.

This year's first out side the top ten isn't looking good. People say it's a really weak draft. And who knows in 6 years what it's going to be. I thought the last of the Brooklyn pics was going to be the best but they blew it up faster than I thought they would.

I don't think these moves were for this year but ffor this summer. Either trade for a third star or move contracts to sign one.

I like the trades. Not sexy, but White is a solid player that offers more all-around skills than Richardson, for more years. He is fairly compensated. He and Theis slide right in.

I think we'll be very happy seeing White and Theis firmly in the rotation instead of Schroder, Romeo, Richardson and Kanter. They are both solid defenders and system fits who are good enough to start when needed, score enough to keep defenses honest, and have no major weaknesses. Kanter couldn't defend a chair, Romeo is a fringe player blocking Nesmith at this point, and Schroder has been a questionable fit who is on his way out of town regardless. Richardson is a worthy role player but limited ballhandler compared to White.

This rotation can really get after it on defense and goes 8 deep with guys who play hard, team ball:

Smart / White
Brown / White
Tatum / GWill
Horford / GWill
RWill / Theis

Nesmith and Pritchard remain wildcard 9th and 10th men.

Add Hauser, who's at least been a true 3PT specialist, and a buyout or two, and we're a solid playoff team with no luxury tax issues going into the summer.

Not glamorous, but solid.

White played with Tatum, Brown, Smart and Ime with team USA. Richardson is not in that class. Brad bought low, rehabbed Richardson's value and sold high. Singles and doubles.

But the fact those 4 played together with Team USA tells us Brown Tatum and Smart are on board and chemistry matters. Four team usa guys and Rob Williams is a nice base. I'm really interested to see how they mesh.

Also, we had 2 main needs - wing/shot creator and shooting. We traded to get a 2 way shot creator. We have 3 guys on the roster who could be that shooter; PP, Nesmith, Hauser. If one of those guys steps up we are in for a fun post season.

I’m excited to see Theis do those excellent picks to free up JT!

Until the summer. We're over the tax with 9 guaranteed and Al's full Salary. If we eat Al's non-guarantee, we have just over $10M to fill 3-6 spots. We are primed for an off season MOVE,

Don’t forget Ime Udoka was on the coaching staff of that team as well. Really like the potential for these guys to have good chemistry and hit the ground running to make a strong push for a higher seed in the playoffs.

White feels like a bit of an overpay but I'm looking forward to him and Smart sharing the floor some of the time and wreaking some havoc. These Celtics are going to be big, and tough on the perimeter.

If we get a good playoff run out of this group, maybe ownership will be willing to spend next year.  If we get a great run (finals), then Al’s guarantee goes up.

You forgot Schroder.

Schroder and Richardson > White and Theis. If White can improve playing with the Cs, the margin narrows.

I love the Incompletes. How can it be incomplete? It's called a 'deadline' for a reason  ;D ;D

I didn't vote it, but kinda assumed it was supposed to mean "jury's out" or something

You are just unequivocally wrong here. Not only does the NBA market show that teams do not value Schroder and Richardson as much as White and Theis, the stats, the eye test, and common sense do not agree with you.

Schroder could barely get a contract above a minimum salary last off-season, and no one was willing to trade significant capital to get him at the deadline.

I like Richardson a lot, but last year at this time, he was having a tough time getting on the court for the Mavs. He was considered a negative value contract and he was not getting a contract extension anywhere until the Cs offered an extra year and rehabbed his on-court play.

Derrick White and Daniel Theis are not all-stars, but they are better players not only as dictated by how much (in dollars) NBA teams value them, but they are better fits on this Celtics team.

For me incomplete was acknowledgement that I don’t know enough about DW yet.  Need to see him play to judge the deal.  I give Theis deal B+. Like DT and like his contract; don’t like the inconsistency of DS.
