Hearing that there are 3 or 4 teams that remain interested in acquiring Dennis Schroder. One source says it's just about 50/50 as to whether something gets done. Cs appear to have no plans to trade Josh Richardson, source says.
Optimistic side of me says they made the money saving deal to be able to freely trade Schroder without worrying about the luxury tax.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Brad brings back Jabari to take one of the two open roster slots.

Boogie!  And IT!

Lol.

If we end the deadline with just 13 players, I do see Brad bringing back IT to keep the good vibes going.

That would be a waste of a roster spot. I wish people could move on from IT. He's had multiple to catch on with teams all over the NBA, he's just not good enough anymore.

As the 15th man? Not a waste, no.  I want him to be our Udonis Haslem, not someone who sees the court.

I actually wouldn’t mind this. Give him a shot, and if it doesn’t work out, he can just hang it up and retire as a Celtic.

Is that what he wants? Seems like the guy actually wants to play. Not everyone is cool being a glorified victory cigar.

And I don't think he'd help the vibes at all. I see it going the other. Going from being an MVP candidate for a team, to 15th man? IT has always had more ego than that.

Dennis Schroder's name is still "very much alive" in trade talks, and I'm wondering who is more anxious right now... Schroder? Or Payton Pritchard, whose opportunity to play increases significantly if Schroder is moved?

Would he accept $400k to hang around the team and be a mentor while trying to prove himself in practice?  I suspect so.

He won't.  The cap hit is only around $400k or so.

If IT gets out in garbage time, sure, he'll try to put up 20 points in 3 minutes.  But he's been bouncing around on 10-day contracts for the last two years, and I'm pretty sure he'd rather be in an NBA practice than pick-up games at the Y.  He was seen as a good mentor in Denver when he was there.  He was a mentor to Jaylen when he was in Boston.  I'm sure he would help Pritchard grow as a player.  The likelihood that the Celtics get one player, much less two, in the buyout market who can be a real contributor on the court is very low.  Bring back IT.

Anyone else gonna pop a mini bottle of champagne if Westbrook is still on the Lakers after the deadline? I have really enjoyed watching them implode with the Lebron super friends ancient roster disaster. I think they will probably get a few buyout guys, it seems Dragic will be available among others, so hopefully they can't get their way out of this with that.

Based on Jaylen's current cap number, which includes his bonus for making an All-Star game, the Celtics are about $1.3 million clear.  Jaylen has a couple more incentives based on team performance.  Those are unlikely, but if he hits those (the C's would need to finish the season 18-8 and make the conference finals), the C's are about $300k clear.

We can agree to disagree. I won't change my stance that I have no interest in seeing IT in green again even if he paid to play here, and you won't change yours.

From Woj:

"The Brooklyn Nets are trading James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

The Sixers are sending the Nets an unprotected 2022 first-round pick and a protected 2027 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN."

That's a lot for Harden!

He gets none of his bonuses if he plays fewer than 65 games.  He’s played 42, so he needs to be in 23 of the final 26 games.  He gets a small bonus ($470k) if he appears in 65 games.  All other bonuses require the games played and an additional condition.
