This narrative of “can they or can’t they play together” is always forcibly pushed into a black or white scenario and that’s why it’s such a circular conversation. The truth, like with many things, lies in the gray. Many things can be true without them being mutually exclusive from each other.
For example, I don’t think Tatum and Brown are the best versions of themselves playing together out there. Why? Because they like doing so many similar things and thus they occupy the same “spaces” on the floor. This is why it can look like “your turn, my turn”.
But what’s also true is that the team plays better when both are on the floor. Why? Because they’re legit all stars and talent has a way of being able to play with talent.
So it’s not that they CAN’T play together. They can. And the team is better for it. But it also doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be a player out there, who is also all-star caliber, whose style can better fit alongside one of them too.
If I had to choose, Tatum is the overall better player and so I’ll build around him. Both JB and JT present equal build-around challenges anyway.
