Sorry Greenly.

It's just, you create a lot of these and erm ... They kind of seem like wild dreams, created in NBA2k or something.

Throwing the kitchen sink out along with everything else ... it just doesn't seem very plausible.

Normally trades like this land you an established veteran superstar on the edge of their prime. Not ... more odd pieces.

Admittedly the trade of JB is risky and may seem like odd pieces (best I could come up with for shipping him West), but Tatum for Morant (with Adams to make the dollars work) is a potential window that is unlikely to be open in a year. I suspect Morant is going to be regarded as the best or second best PG in the league in 1-3 years. If I had to bet money on it, Morant will have a better career than JT, although I admit it’s 60-40% chance of going that way.

So...  the goal is to be in the lottery for the next half-decade or more?

If we’re a lottery team this year, what in god’s name makes you think JT/JB is working and they are going to lead us to a championship with most of our cap tied up in a duo that just doesn’t play well together?

Morant/Haliburton/Mitchell would be more exciting/complementary than JT/JB/Smart, and since all three are on rookie contracts we can actually bring in a max free agent in 2022 or 2023 to have a Big 3.

Three PGs are more complementary than two forwards and a guard?

Haliburton is really a SG and Mitchell can play off ball as sixth man. With those three, we probably have the best backcourt in the league, especially when we remember Pritchard would still be here for further depth.

JT and JB clearly are not complementary—it’s beyond obvious these two do not really want to play team ball together, and Smart’s act has grown stale, particularly with that extension kicking in next year.

But, if we finish in 13th, that probably means that Tatum and Brown were injured and sat out the season.

What if that isn’t the case? I see the writing on the wall. We’re currently THIS close to being 13th in the East. Totally unacceptable, and I will not be the least bit surprised if we finish there at this point.

The thing is, if you keep "blowing up" your core like this, you're going to lose a LOT on goodwill from players, fans, etc.

Also doubt it'd be good for Jersey sales? Or maybe the opposite? Are there even numbers on that?

If our core isn’t even getting us to the playoffs, the fans will be clamoring to “dump the bums.” This is the escape hatch.

We move JT for Morant, guarantee Morant’s jersey sales will dwarf the JT figures within 1-2 years. Dude can ball. Frankly, not convinced Memphis would trade him for JT. Unlike JT, Morant has 🔥

Admittedly, I’m Big 3 or Bust, you might say. I strongly suspect a Big 3 is the only way to have a dynasty and that should always be the goal for the Celtics. With so much cap tied up in two players in JT/JB and no extra picks like before, we’ve got virtually no shot of a Big 3 with JT/JB taking up so much cap.

Memphis won’t trade Morant for anyone
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

This may very well be the worst most unrealistic trade idea ever proposed on this forum
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I’d also try to move Smart and Schröder to San Antonio for Thad Young, Jock Landale, 2024 SA/BOS 1st Swap (Best to BOS), 2025 SA/BOS 1st Swap (Best to BOS), and 2026 SA/BOS 1st Swap (Best to BOS). They may go along with a bet on swaps after seeing us move JT and JB, particularly since Pops is probably not going to be around in 3-4 years and knows that Schröder/Smart could help him win now/next year.
so....basically you're a Laker fan looking to trash the Celtics franchise for decades in the hopes LA passes the C's for titles?  can't think of any other explanation for your trade ideas.

Knew who started this just from the title. Yet another wildly unrealistic trade idea to the Hall of Shame.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Idea for December 15: Brown + Schröder For D. Murray, McDermott, Young

Spurs need to mix things up and so do we, so who says no to this on December 15:

BOS In: Dejounte Murray, Doug McDermott, Thad Young
SAS In: Jaylen Brown, Dennis Schröder, BOS TPE (Young for TPE, giving the Spurs space next year to re-sign Schröder)

Easy to argue we are much better with this lineup, and D. Murray would be well positioned to be the accepting beta to Tatum’s alpha (sorry, JB, but there can only be one alpha on this team, but you can become Pops’ new alpha):

Murray/Pritchard
Smart/Richardson/Langford
Tatum/McDermott/Nesmith
Young/G. Williams/Hernangomez/Parker
Horford/Timelord/Kanter/Fernando

The obvious next move would be to cut Fernando, or move Richardson and/or Hernangomez for a guard. Revisit the idea of TPE/pick for Markannen. Would love to see us bring back Horford and go into the off-season with our 2022 1st, 2022 2nd, room for a MLE, and the following:

Murray/Pritchard
Smart/Langford/Begarin
Tatum/Nesmith
Markannen/McDermott/G. Williams
Horford/Timelord

Fixed it for you.  your goal must be to make this into an absolutely abysmal team with no hope for the future

I would argue Dejounte is better than Jaylen next to Tatum. In isolation, Brown is better than Dejounte. This move makes both teams better since we have Tatum and the Spurs have no number one.

We’ve been absolutely mediocre with JT/JB ever since Hayward left. This mediocrity cannot continue. It’s beyond obvious that JT/JB have no chemistry. It’s not Kemba, it’s not the loss of Hayward, it’s not the loss of Horford, it’s just JT/JB do not fit together…

We’re 20 games into the season and our record says who we are: 10th in the East at 10-10…
