Facing elimination tonight, the Lakers are still expected to part ways with coach Frank Vogel at season’s end. Two names most often linked by league figures as potential replacements currently coach other teams: Quin Snyder and Doc Rivers. Doc Rivers has not impressed me. I am a bit surprised people still want him. He would presumably only be available if Philly underachieves in Playoffs.

I would love to watch the Lakers give up a draft pick to hire a coach instead of converting Russell Westbrook into a useful player.

Considering LeBron has undermined every coach he has ever played for with the possible exception of Spo (who was admirably backed by Riley's presence), the Lakers should just have LeBron serve as player-coach for a year. He does it anyways in a passive-aggressive, under-handed manner, but this way he would actually have to take accountability for the team's play-style and schemes/approach, and you might actually get a better product. Or, it could blow up spectacularly, but what do the Lakers have to lose with their current predicament?

Zion Williamson's stepfather, Lee Anderson, said he expects Williamson to return to play this season but understands that it's a decision that has to be made with the New Orleans Pelicans' medical staff with a look toward not only the present but also the future.

"I expect him to play. If you were to ask Zion, I'm sure he would probably say the same thing," Anderson said. "But with just a couple of games left, with the magnitude of what's going on in New Orleans and the opportunity to qualify for the play-in game and possibly get into a seven-game series, that would be off the charts in the city of New Orleans. That would be a plus in New Orleans. That would be a plus for Zion with the way things are right now."

"Do I expect him to play? Certainly I do. That's on me, though. That's purely me. I don't think there's anything else that would hinder him from doing that right now."

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think the more relevant question is why would Doc want the Lakers over PHI?  Embiid + Harden > James + Davis at this point.  I guess that assumes that Harden actually opts in with PHI, which he has said he will do but still hasn't done yet?

Well, he could get fired with something short of an ECF. Last year was largely blamed on Simmons but they should not have lost to Hawks. If they are seen as underachieving this year it could be time for him there. He also recently called out James Harden pretty publicly saying he didn't think the bench played bad, it was just that they got no shots with how James was playing. I also wouldn't be surprised if he preferred spending the year in LA rather than Philly. Seems like a warm weather guy. Main house is in Orlando and he had a very expensive malibu place until last year.

Interesting thing to watch, Will Lebron suit up on a bum ankle when the Lakers are eliminated just to try and win scoring title? He has already been ruled out for tonight and needs to play 2 more games to be eligible to win it. Barring a massive upset of the Lakers over the Suns in Phoenix tonight, the Lakers will be eliminated. Maybe people will just enjoy it if it is like Kobe's final game, but I'm not sure how people will react if Lebron takes like 50 shots on a team that is the biggest disappointment in the NBA. That doesn't seem like GOAT behavior.

He’s sitting out tonight.

Looking like no LaVine tonight.  Which could certainly impact tomm night also.

ESPN Sources: Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (left knee) is likely to be out vs. the Milwaukee Bucks tonight (8 o'clock, ESPN). LaVine has only missed one game since the mid-February All-Star break. Bulls are fifth in East, tied with sixth-place Raptors at 45-33.

Yeah, surprising they would keep him out of the first of the two back to backs.  The statement does say "likely" out, whatever that means.  You would think they would know by this time.  This leads me to think that his knee is really sore and that he is going to need to "rest" for more than just one game.  This favors Toronto more than anyone.  TOR could move up to the 5 seed.  That is pretty impressive.

CHI hasn't played since Saturday.  Lavine played 35 min against MIA.  Now 3 days later he can't play?  Hmmm.

Yeah that was my point. He is sitting out tonight and they will almost certainly be eliminated. The question does he try to come back in two of their final three games after to be eligible for the scoring title. And if he does will it be a kobe final game like circus.
