Joe Ingles went down with a knee injury.  Bad news for the Jazz who’ve been struggling lately.

That said, I’ve always thought a Richardson-Ingles swap made on-court sense for the Jazz, and with Ingles down, it might make Richardson even more valuable to them.  Unfortunately the Jazz can’t trade a 1st until 2026 at the earliest, and are low on 2nds (they only have Memphis’ 2nd this year and then their next pick is their own in 2025).  This feels like such a seller’s market this year, and I hope Brad leans into it.  There’s no reason to preserve role players on a .500 team.

I love Ingles.

I don't think trading the one bench guy that consistently works for us, for Ingles.

Just seems like one of the most lateral moves ever.

Injured or no, Ingles wasn't gonna give you 30+ a game anyway.

It’s not for Ingles.  He’s an expiring, and I wouldn’t expect him to make more than the MLE next year even if healthy, so even Bird rights don’t matter.  It’s to get assets and put us in a better financial position to make moves next summer.  Richardson’s fine — the Jazz seem like the one team who might give us something resembling a 1st for him, given their dearth of 2nds, how far protected into the future the pick would be, and Richardson’s fit into what they do.

Going to start making my case for Celtics draft consultant. Word around town is Jones is looking great for the Pelicans. According to the ringer's Kevin O'connor he's already one of the leagues top wing defenders right now. Plus, the guy is shooting 80% from the freethrow line and 36% from 3. I don't expect him to be much more than a really good role player, but I think he would've been nice with the Jays.

I think we're in need of a big athletic wing behind Tatum.

Herbert Jones looks like an ideal second round pick. A disruptive defender with size and athleticism, switchable 1-4 and has some play making skills. The jump shot is questionable, but being able to put the ball on the floor and make simple plays makes him way more versatile than Semi and Grant. He's a lob threat and can push the ball a little in the open floor. If the shooting can be just competent he looks like a major win early to mid second round. He could be a Gerald Wallace type maybe.

So, if you watched the Pels game, you know Jones looks good.  Why would NO trade him?

TP - good call! I have followed Herb Jones for most of the season, as I picked him up on both of my fantasy teams pretty early on. I guess his age was probably a deterrent for teams, but dude looks like the perfect off-ball teammate and just a menace on defense. And what's not to love about his body. Obviously too late to pry him away from NOP, but he looks like he'll be a really nice and effective player in the league.

How exactly were the Celtics going to get him?  He was gone at #35 and the Celtics didn't pick until #45.

I think they are making the point in hindsight. Good on the poster. Ive missed on tons of draft picks over the years.

Ingles is officially out with an ACL, surprising no one who’s seen the video of his injury.

Pretty sad stuff. With this and Baynes’ horrific story not too long ago, it’s been a sad time for two of my favourite Australian hoopers.

I was beating the Herbert Jones drum a lot too. Would’ve been an awesome addition.

The Sixers look like they are really trying to NOT trade Simmons. They are driving away teams with genuine interest. I have never really seen this before. I guess everyone in Philly is on board with this but it looks like a way to waste an MVP season by Embiid.

Seems like Morey is super confident he can do a sign and trade for harden this summer using simmons. If this is true I think he is undervalueing the cost of wasting this year of Embid.

I hope he’s tampering with Harden like the Nets tampered with Kyrie.

How is he wasting this year?  The Sixers are only a half game out of 1st in the East.  Maxey has been developing nicely with Simmons not playing.  I haven't seen anything to indicate there is a potential Simmons trade which would move the needle for the Sixers this year.  The potential trading partners have been lowballing the Sixers.

It’s a bit silly how we all pretend to know what has been offered, but I’ll bite on the nonsense. It was rumored there was something around haliburton, Barnes and hield for simmons and Harris (some other pieces involved to make salaries work). I think they have a much better chance of winning the championship this year if they do that trade. And battling Cleveland for the top seed in the east Id obviously just indicative of the bucks and nets having a lot of injury problems this year. They would obviously be significant underdogs against a healthy bucks or nets teams without making any trades. If you disagree you should  definitely make a bet because the 76ers are currently +850 to win the east and an even more wild 20-1 to win the chipZ (I don’t recommend making these bets in general as they are terrible odds). In other words they are wasting a brilliant year from Embid like I originally said. I think a player like Halliburton could really help this year.
