With the 2nd pick of the 6th round, the Memphis Grizzlies select Al Horford.
Like Horford as a bench big man. Very reliable on defence, can stretch the floor, good passer on the high-post and perimeter. Another big man who can shoot for your team.
I liked Horford quite a bit better for my team than the other remaining bigs.  All around contributor as you say.  He also defended Embiid better than most in the past.

This feels like a fair PSA because I was considering him: Undrafted player out indefinitely, healing not going as anticipated.

I know he's not drafted so let me know if I should redact.

Interesting picks thus far.  I don't have my own draft board, but I'm surprised that some of the guys coming off of the board are roughly in the top 60 - 75 of NBA players.
That's where we are in the order.  The 1st 5 rounds were 60 picks.

The Nets are thrilled to see this guy's recent improvement. He is a shot blocker and can stretch next to Capela.

Myles Turner

With the 3rd pick of the 6th round, the OKC Thunder (Somebody) select...

Fred VanVleet!

Bummer. I was hoping he'd last til my next pick.

VanVleet is one of those guys I learned more appreciation of while researching players for this draft. I always thought he was a chucker and dismissed him as such but I never realized how good his defense was. One of the league leaders in deflections and stuff like that. Disruptive as a team defender. Strong man defender. Built like a rock so he switches well onto bigger players. And his handles, passing and difficulty rating on many of those off the dribble 3s add good value despite less than ideal overall scoring efficiency.

Overall, much more well rounded as a player than I had recognized prior to the draft. And a real winner. I love his attitude out there.
I feel like Lowry has been huge for him in teaching him how to use his stout frame on defence. Just gets his body in the way. His scoring inside the arc is poor, no way around that, but his passing, shooting and defence are all good.

That is a good way of putting it. Inside the arc scoring vs outside shooting / scoring/

One of the things I have noticed in looking at players for this is how valuable shooting 3s off the dribble in the PnR + step back 3s are + can you step back another 3-5 feet beyond the three point line and hit the longer 3. VanVleet does all of those things with his outside scoring.

And then gives you ball-handling and playmaking if you cover him closely to deny him those shots.

That's interesting -- are you planning to play them together?

I did an edit of it so that the name doesn't appear in the hyperlink, should be fine :)

That's what I'm saying.  I'm surprised that some of the guys being chosen are players I wouldn't have pegged as being in the top-75.

Very interesting. Lots of defensive potential with Kawhi, Smart, Capela and Turner.

My next pick might be a round early, or so, but I love his fit and think what he brings to a star laden team immeasurable.

I don't see Harris as a reach.  He's the type of finisher that a team needs.

Similar sentiment to Duncan Robinson alongside Harden for me. Harris alongside LeBron (and co.) will get a heap of relatively easy looks
