Warriors are getting robbed. That is a trade package they will put out there for a top 15-20 player in the league. Not Marcus Smart.
I don't necessarily disagree. I'm just saying there may not be a top 15-20 player available. I think they were hoping there would be. If there is, then I agree its no contest that they should trade for them instead.
But this trade is based on a different assumption--that there isn't one available and the Warriors want to contend this year, not wait on Wiggins, Wiseman, and the 7th pick to become players that can help them.
Like I said before, put together another trade package that is clearly better for a player that actually may be available. Because there are only three that may be available:
Simmons - the Sixers won't want a trade package of Wiggins, rookies and Wiseman. They will want a guard.
Beal - is he available or not? I can never tell. He'd be great offensively on that team, but the Warriors do need a couple defenders on that roster and Beal isn't one of them.
Towns - is he available or not? I can never tell. This is an ideal trade partner for them, as long as Green doesn't go Jimmy Butler on Towns. But I don't think Towns is really available right now.
What other trade is there out there for that trade package? Maybe Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe, but does that really give you the versatility you want in the playoffs? Their top 5 players would have two shooters and three non-shooters? Is that a team you want to play in crunch time?
Seriously, the Warriors don't have a ton of options out there, and they really can't afford to waste another year of Thompson-Curry-Green's prime hoping that raw talents like Wiseman and Wiggins develop into guys you can count on in the playoffs.
