Ben Simmons doesn’t fit well with Embiid, who’s the clear alpha of that team now. Simmons could be the ideal playmaker next to JT and Brown, he can play the small ball C which allow us to have more shooting at the guard position. Kemba arguably fits better with the current 76er team.

Will Kemba + 2 first + timelord get Simmons?

I would love to find a way to get Simmons, but I don't think we have the assets without Brown. Kemba at best, has neutral trade value. Timelord is a modern center, so he plays the same position as Philly's centerpiece. Essentially we would be offering 2 firsts and minor assets (in Philly's eyes) for their second best player.

I don't think we really have a shot at that without Brown. Imagine the 3 of Simmons/Brown/Tatum in transition though? My goodness.

Simmons to me, does not have enough mental drive.   He is passive at times, limited with his shot and has not shown the discipline to improve it.   I would pass on him.

Can't shoot, and would clog up the middle making it harder for JT/JB.

If the Celtics can get him without losing Tatum or Brown, yes.  He upgrades the Celtics defense and passing.

While true, I think teams can get by with one non-shooting big, particularly if he can pass and defend like Simmons.

I just don’t think we have the pieces to land him.

Better yet, if Philly loses trade for Embiid.

Fans are going to have to come to grips with the fact that in most situations, we're not getting any of these trade targets without trading Jaylen Brown.

Even if Lillard or Wall forced their way out of their current teams, someone else will offer up a better deal than Kemba, a few 1sts, and a few of our 2nd/3rd tier players.

Simmons and Embiid are not only just fine together when they have the appropriate style of player around them but quite simply they are fantastic together.

Embiid and Simmons played 1164 minutes together this year, their net rating was 15.5 with ORTG of 118.2 and a DRTG of 102.8.  The only duos with a higher net rating and at least 500 minutes, were all on the Jazz and Clippers.

That was also the case in 17-18 before they acquired Butler and wrecked the chemistry and what makes Embiid and Simmons work.  They need catch and shoot players around them.  They need guys that don't need the ball to be effective.  The Sixers downgraded their talent last summer, but significantly improved the fit and you can see the result.

Now that doesn't mean they won't move Simmons because he is the only guy that has any sort of value (outside of Embiid).  They really probably need to upgrade Harris.  They need someone that can maintain the offense when Embiid is on the bench and Harris isn't good enough in that role (and that obviously isn't Simmons' game).

I'm thinking more along the lines of Lonzo Ball, he's a poor man Simmons. Plus he's a better shooter. Trade Walker for multiple players to build a bench, then concentrate on Ball.

Ball is a restricted free agent, we could only get him via sign and trade which would hard cap us. Highly, highly unlikely.

I'd love to get Simmons, but I don't think we have the assets to pull it off. Philly is going to be in contention mode. If anything, I could see them potentially using Simmons in a deal to pursue Bradley Beal.
