How can professionals shoot this badly at FT's? Maybe its time to try underhanded for him

I absolutely love the crowd counting to 14 whilst Giannis is shooting his freebies.

When did Giannis's ft shooting fall off a cliff?  nevermind I checked myself
last four years of playoffs ft shooting - 2018 - 69%, 2019 - 64%, 2020 - 58%, 2021 - 53%

a slow long descent into a terrible ft shooter.

By being stubborn.

Take a dribble, shoot it like you would during regular game time.

Brook used to be very good at posting up. Bud should run more plays for him down low.

How do the refs ignore the 10 second free throw rule?  It's straight out of the rule book.

To me it seems like the crowd is giving a fair count (not sped up) and they're constantly getting to 12-13 when Giannis is shooting.

As trivial as that rule is, it's garbage that the refs can openly choose not to enforce it, especially when it's been brought to their attention.

But other things (like an offensive player clearly initiating contact with an unnatural shooting motion) they're apparently powerless to to deviate from the rule book.

They do a count when the player is inbounding.  They do a count when the player is bringing the ball up, why not when a player is shooting free throws?  The rules are the rules.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I dislike the nets because of Harden, Durant and KI, but I am impressed with what Bruce Brown, and Blake has given the Nets.
Those two have been better than I expected, especially after Kyrie went down with the injury.

Same reason why they didn’t call IT4 for traveling on his free throws every time he stepped into the lane early. And also same reason why they don’t call traveling in general except for when it’s the pump fake move beyond the arc.

Refs are lenient towards some things and they have points of emphasis on other things. Zaza injuring Kawhi really set the league on fire and has been responsible for a huge point of emphasis on “protecting shooters” aka calling fouls on the perimeter.

Not only is it sped up (just use the stopwatch on your phone m8) - they also start at 1 instantly when he gets the ball. So when they hit "Ten", it's actually only 9 seconds.

There's no "to me [...]" in numbers :)

This is true too. The commentators said it was a sped up count too.

I still worded that wrong actually. It's more like 14 = 10 :)

And he does cut it VERY close here and there - occasionally toeing just over 10 seconds.

But this is one of those things where the refs want to be ambiguous so they can call it every which way they want, I reckon.

That's why they don't use tech. How hard is it to just have a stopwatch on your arm as a ref. Jeez. League is just lazy so they can call it however they want it. It need to be "good entertainment". And calling someone for 10 seconds on a free-throw isn't good entertainment.

Just timed another few Giannis Freethrows.

12 seconds on the first one. 11 on the next. (crowd was at 15, 14)

They need to cut FTs back to 5 seconds. Not 10.

10 is far too long. Waste of time. Makes games more boring.
