Can someone please jump on the Utah bandwagon with me :(

It's lonely here.
I'm a fan of the Jazz. Super balanced roster, nice balance of shooting and dribble penetration on offence, best defender in the game, and their franchise has no rings. Would be an ideal team to win.

If I'm honest I'm happy with any of the Western teams, as well as Atlanta or Milwaukee.

Quick overview of why the Jazz are in the playoffs:

  • They're 4th in points per game ... and 3rd in lowest points allowed. So great offence combined with great defence
  • Shooting: 1st in 3's attempted and made, 5th in 3p%
  • The top rebounding team
  • They've got arguably the league's best 3pt defence (their opponents 3p, 3pa, 3p% are 1st, 2nd and 3rd league lowest)

I think that last one will be the key to winning it all. They keep that up, and Gobert stays healthy, they win against anyone.

I have a soft spot for the Jazz too. I like their team, they look really well balanced. DPOY caliber rim protector and shooters everywhere. Mike Conley's health will be crucial for them though. These playoffs it's pretty much going to be last men standing with all the injuries to various players.

I also hope that the Utah Jazz wins the championship. Very interesting series coming up with the Jazz vs Clippers.

However I'm confident that my prediction on Brooklyn winning it all will hold.
People have really been sleeping on them. Expecting them to collapse due to bad defense and personality clashes.

When we saw how good Durant still was in preseason I knew that the Nets would be trouble.
I don't root for them at all, but I'm not going to be salty about it.

Wouldn't we as Celtics fans have cheered if we would have signed Durant in free agency in 2016 (which would probably have happened without that ridiculous cap increase)?

A well led but average team (Thomas, Bradley, Smart, Crowder, Olynyk, Johnson) going nowhere propelled by two big free agent signings in one summer (Durant and Horford), how would that have looked?

The Celtics have signed All Star free agents from smaller teams: Hayward (from Utah) and Walker (from Charlotte).

The Nets have an advantage (being in New York), but their management has done a tremendous job to get to where they are.

Already did. Just go back to page 96. I’m sure the Bucks would go for that.... ::)

No way boston refuses this...attach a pick if you have to..

Middleton is just as good or bad as Kemba but id take him in a heartbeat over a guy who wont be playing b2b or if he does play gives you 1 for 9 from three....lol

I'm pretty sure I was one of the first guys to jump on the bandwagon after they were putting up historically good numbers in the first few months of the RS lol.

Kemba has already mentioned that because of the way the team handled his knee this year, that he won't be taking off back to backs next year.

My issues with the Nets:

- Kyrie, Harden, and Blake all quit on their teams before going to Brooklyn; Blake is probably the most egregious because he looked totally washed up and received a buyout, now he looks good again.

- They barely played together at all the whole year, and they never played a single minute of solid defense during the regular season

These are things that feel they like they should matter.  I want to believe that winning meaningful games in the NBA requires continuity, familiarity, effort, and discipline, especially on defense.  I don't like seeing guys get rewarded for quitting on one team so that they can end up on another.

That's all aside from how the Nets were able to acquire these guys in large part because of where they are located combined with their willingness to basically clear the deck and invite a couple of stars to take over the running of the franchise for however long those guys want to be there.

I worry that the Nets are a model for future contending teams in the NBA, and that worries me a lot because I don't think that would be a very fun league to watch.

So much for Milwaukee offering any resistance to the Nets.

Oh well, at least the Lakers won't win the title this season.

TP to rock for correct Boston sentiment....Lakers must be defeated at all times.

I am most impressed by how resilient Utah's offense has been this year. This team is different from those surprise squads like that 60+ win Hawks team a few years in that their offense can maintain it's high powered attack against tough defenses. Thanks to Donovan Mitchell, loads of 3 point shooting, the shot creation of the 6th man of the year Jordan Clarkson and the solid all-round PG play of Conley.

They are the best team in the West now. Especially with the Lakers now gone, the Clippers disappointing again and the Nuggets short-handed with Murray. Utah is clearly #1 and by a big margin and thus should win the West.

Not sure they can take on Brooklyn though. Gobert will be a liability on defense. Their offense will carry on but there defense won't. That is why I do no think their offense gets enough credit and also why I think their defense gets too much credit. Lacks resiliency / versatility (their defense that is). Unlike their offense.

Kemba has already mentioned that because of the way the team handled his knee this year, that he won't be taking off back to backs next year.

Even Danny said this on 4/21:

Ainge said Kemba Walker could play in back-to-backs right now but "we're not gonna fight it at this moment, just because it's been successful for him and his health ... we just don't want to get in the way of that routine."

The negative Kemba hype train is real and is barreling down a monstrous hill. CS has actually been pretty tame and reasonable when it comes to Kemba, but places like Cs Reddit already have him being fitted for a prosthetic and seemingly claim he'll never be able to walk again. People are also confusing his bone bruise in the playoffs with his successfully repaired knee as if he had some kind of major set-back. Guess we should say the same about Jaylen - dude may never be able to shoot or dribble again because of that dang wrist.

Hilarious how Middleton becomes prime-Ray Allen when facing us but against everyone else he's usually mediocre/average...  ::)
