Why: Tatum’s ceiling is a lesser version of Paul George. He’s a tweener that’s not quite big enough to play Power Forward and Jaylen can play the Swing just fine.

BOS gets: KAT
MIN gets: Tatum and a first, probably protected

BOS gets: Caris LeVert, maybe a pick
IND gets: Smart

Kemba / Pritchard
LeVert / Fournier / Langford
Brown / LeVert / Nesmith
KAT / Cheap Vet / GWill
Time Lord / Kornet / Mo Wagner

Who says yes?

This doesn’t make us better.

I think it clearly does. This addresses two problems:

- We have a lack of size in the front court
- Our starters have too many overlapping skill sets in our ball handlers, wings, and swings

The next banner gets hung the same way all the other ones did: with a marquee big.

I'd rather have Tatum than KAT.

I get that some people are down on Tatum due to recent play of the team but a lesser Paul George is just wrong... he’s arguably on Paul’s level at 23.

Brown for KAT makes sense, not Tatum.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I get that both players have their issues and that Tatum still has a long productive career ahead of him, but I'd probably do it. We were at our best when we had Al Horford running the show on offense and Towns is a super-powered version of Al. As long as we re-sign Fournier, I think our wing depth can hold up. It might just better balance the team and allow everybody to excel in their roles.

I will absolutely be pulling for a Cs run the rest of this season, though. If we can pull it together with Tatum being the true leader, then I would roll with what we have. But it just seems like right now our team needs a shake-up, and it's not like we would downgrading our talent. No need for the pick, though.

For all his flaws, Tatum is better than KAT.

I think you're clearly in the minority on that.

Interesting that some people wouldn't even trade Brown for Towns and others want to trade Tatum for him.  I am right in the middle on this.  Brown for Towns, sure.  Tatum for Towns, just doesn't seem right.

I was OK to trade Tatum for Anthony Davis but at this point, I am not sure who I would trade him for.  Doncic?  Giannis?  Williamson?  Jokic?

Actually, the thought of Smart - Brown - Williamson, that would be one tough group.  But really, would we be better with Williamson over Tatum?

Tatum clearly has a much higher ceiling than a lesser Paul George and I believe has a higher ceiling than Towns.  If you acquire Towns, Brown is the one to go out, not Tatum
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Kemba and LeVert would be a pitiful duo when it came to defence. We also shouldn't be attaching picks to a deal of JT for KAT, they're of equal value.

I would prefer to give up Brown if I'm honest. I'd love for us to poach Jaylen Nowell - solidly productive 2/3 player who is on an incredibly cheap contract. If we could nab those guys for a Brown / Nesmith / 1st offer I'd jump all over it. Our team would be:

Kemba / Pritchard / Madar
Smart / Nowell / Langford
Tatum / Fournier / Langford
KAT / Thompson / GWill
Timelord / Kornet / Wagner

Try and draft Isaiah Todd and/or Chris Duarte in the 2nd round (I'm assuming we can just buy in) and we're golden! I'd be pretty happy with that team
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

This is an awful trade idea. It would make us worse. We’d be downgrading players in each trade. Hardest pass ever.

There should be a punishment for awful trade ideas!

This is awful!

JT is literally a better and more valuable player than KAT.
