Shams Charania: NBA and Lakers legend Elgin Baylor has passed away from natural causes at age of 86, team says. – via Twitter ShamsCharania

Baylor is one of those guys who, as time goes by, kind of gets lost in the shuffle of NBA greatness.  I just don’t think that modern fans realize how good he was overall.

I hope that his family and loved ones find peace.

Sad news. RIP.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

Baylor averaged 27.4 points and 13.5 rebounds during his 14-year career. 11-time all-star, 10-time all-NBA first team.

Rest in peace.

Definitely a more forgotten star. Was one of the greats.

Feels like we've lost a lot of greats from that era recently. Sad stuff

As a Celtics fan in my childhood TV games were a rarity -- so much of my early Celtics was after "lights out" listening on my transistor radio or my nightstand clock-radio. So I can't really remember watching Baylor play -- though I'm sure I saw him.  I despised the Lakers as far back as I can remember -- but I can't recall having any specific distaste for Baylor the way I did with Chamberlain, West and others.

RIP.

It does seem like we are right in the midst of witnessing the passing of the remaining elders from a great era of basketball, one that rests in my memory from visuals created by the words of Johnny Most.

I always wondered what Baylor's GM career might have been like had he not been saddled with Donald Sterling as his owner.  It seemed like just when the Clippers might actually be good, cheap old Sterling would force Baylor to make trades or not re-sign players
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
