The current NBA is probably the most talented as it has even been. More specifically it contains a couple of unreal offensive players who are in the discussion of best players offensively of all time.

Is it fair to say that LeBron James, James Harden, Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic are all in the top 10 of best offensive players ever? Not to mention we still also have Chris Paul and Kevin Durant playing.

I think Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Steve Nash are others to consider for that top 10.

What do you think? Am I forgetting someone? How does your top 10 look like?
And do you agree we are witnessing a special NBA era?

Look at the list of top 10 MVP candidates this season (according to sports betting), some collection of stars: James, Jokic, Embiid, Harden, Curry, Doncic, Antetokounmpo, Lillard, Leonard and Durant.

Make the first two All NBA teams:

First team
Curry
Harden
James
Antetokounmpo
Jokic

Second team
Lillard
Doncic
Leonard
Durant
Embiid

We’re in an era where the league more than ever caters to its superstars and bends the rules in favor of higher scoring.

In the NBAs defense, all the other sports have done this too, well at least the 2nd one that I mentioned.  The NBA is the only sport where it’s superstars play by a different set of rules than any other player

But it's not just that, greg. It's that we've got an abundance of players who are positively spectacular on the offensive end and at the same time players and teams are better than ever before at "solving" basketball --  similar to the chess phenomenon but filtered through that obnoxious Sloan Analytics lens.

There have been different solutions to the game over the years, which usually result in rule changes or adjustments. I'm still surprised they haven't dispensed with the corner three, to be honest.

NBA is in good hands with a lot of young and promising players, but do not get it twisted, the offensive explosion you see is league manipulation. This is a different game from what existed in the 80s and 90s.

Meh, it's just the rule changes. The change them and change them to make the game easier for one player to dominate offensively instead of needing teamwork & defense.

I think we're bursting at the seams with offensive talent overall, but it's not like we're significantly better than prior decades except for the 70s that was severely thinned out by expansion in terms of offensive talent at the very top: the 60s had Oscar and West who were better than everyone in this league right now save LeBron and Curry on offence, the 80s had Bird, Magic and early prime Jordan ('89 was one of his peak years), the 90s had pre-AIDS Magic, Bakuri-kun and Jordan while the 2000s had Shaq, Kobe, Nash and young LeBron.

Yeah, not even remotely. The rule changes have enhanced them. Imagine what Jordan or Bird would do with these rules? Or Shaq? Nash and West with the kind of green light modern guards have?

Long range shooting skill is at an all time high due to the premium on 3 point shooting.

Amount of great playmaking has declined in my opinion.  I'm surprised because the greatest player of this generation, Lebron, is at heart a playmaking guy, you would think more young players would try to emulate his skill set. Instead they seem more intent on working on their one on one skills, which admittedly are impressive.

It doesn't really matter how awesome the rest of the league is, when the Celts are a disappointing mess, I don't feel privileged to be watching the NBA

Indeed Celtics have gone backwards at an alarming rate of knots
It's depressing

I think we have more access to the content today  but every generation grows up thinking this to the be case.   I thought the same thing with Bird, Magic era in the 80s.   My friend a little younger than me thought that about the Jordan era.   And this goes across the different sports the QBs in the 80s was a great era for instance.

I would tend to agree. The problem with more information is that there's more of an opportunity for people to misunderstand it, mostly.
