I actually miss Kyrie at this point.

I am stoned and reserve the right to take this back come morning.
which you will.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I actually wished Ainge was like Bill Belichick of this offseason and made some moves...like, lots of moves.

The NBA just doesn’t offer the same flexibility.
Imagine an NBA team emerging with that kind of cap space. Also a lot different given rosters of 15 vs 53 or whatever it is
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I pride myself on being the eternal optimist with this team, but we either need to go entirely young or make trades for better veterans. Whatever Danny is doing isn't working. He'd have to be stubborn and/or crazy to think standing pat at the deadline is the move.

I am frustrated!

I said this after the Wizards loss and I’m sticking with it. If he does nothing at the deadline, it’ll be time to hand the keys to Zarren.

I'm confused...if it's a lost season why should we do something at the deadline? Unless it would be to be sellers. Shouldn't we wait till the offseason to upgrade the team since we can spend more of the TPE?

Or do we just want Danny to make a feel-good move for the sake of making one?
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

We are definitely better than what we’ve shown lately.

Injuries and discontinuity have hurt the club.

Our guys are young and don’t really know how to win consistently yet.

That playoff run with Kyrie hurt was a fluke.

The team really did lose a lot of talent losing Kyrie, Horford, Hayward, Banes, and Marcus Morris.

We’ve replaced vets and proven players with youth and pseudo rotational players.

That’s a lot of stress on our core young guys.

That’s the strange thing about this year. The biggest questions I had were: would Tatum and Brown take another step forward, and would TL emerge as a legitimate starter. The answer to all three questions has been yes, and yet the team is worse than last year.

We need a better supporting cast for the Js. And we need a steady vet to guide our two young studs. They’re just not leading this team very well at the moment. Being an effective leader goes beyond stats.

I'm not quite ready to give up on the season yet, but I am getting pretty close to giving up on Stevens.

I like the guy. Seems very pleasant, but I'm really not sure what he's thinking.

I only caught the second half last night, but what was with throwing Green in there for 3 minutes. He brought nothing to the table, except getting toasted a few times. Looking at the box score, apparently he did the same with Edwards in the first half. Why is Nesmith not playing? Brad says he's playing well and works really hard. To my untrained eye, he's a lot better than either Edwards or Green. I'll throw Semi, Teague, and Grant in there as well.

That being said, why does he not figure out who can help and play them? 3 or 4 minutes isn't doing anything for their development. They're 500 team. Start developing 2 or 3 of these guys. Even Prichard's time has been uneven lately. For some reason, after taking him out of the line up, he's trying to fit Teague back in. I'd much rather see Prichard get those minutes.

There is no way this team should be a 500 team. I know injuries, etc. But they are about as heathy as they are going to be, and lost to Cleveland. They can't close a game, or win a close one. Their defense has been awful. They defer to Smart to take terrible shots down the stretch.

It's really disappointing, and not much fun to watch. Which makes me think, who thought hiring Scal was a good idea? He's the most annoying person in the world. I'm so tired of him saying he's okay with that shot, or he's okay with that pass. Who cares if you're okay with it?? I won't even start on the rules of verticality!

Sorry I digress. I'm done venting for now. But, I truly wish Brad would figure out a direction and follow it. Personally I would play Prichard and Nesmith more. They might not win more games this year, but at least it might not be painful to watch.

Like I said in another post, get Kevin Garnett as a assistant coach to light these guys up, if he want to do it
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

We need better players.

Jalen is really struggling with his tendinitis, I think.  Look at his splits since January:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brownja02/splits/2021
Maybe or maybe he is just regressing to the mean.  I remember a few years ago Morris started off like gang busters, but ended up the year playing like he should.  Perhaps Brown was just on an uber hot streak and didn't make the leap we all thought.  Or maybe it is the knee acting up.  Or a bit of both.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

It has become clear to me that the problem is lack of skilled players.  The majority of our bench may provide a good game once in a while but Stevens can't rely on them all the time.  Rob and Payton make mistakes, but they are becoming less inconsistent.  The team needs an infusion of better players that have proven over time that they can consistently make a 3 pointer.  The other problem is lack of passing the ball looking for an open uncontested shot.  It seems to me that the Js are constantly being forced to shoot contested shots.  Ignoring an open player who can shoot 40% when not under pressure (Payton).  This team needs better players and its coach needs to move away from iso ball most of the time.

Went to basketball reference to look at team stats:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2021.html

Celts are mediocre (ranked in the 12-20 range) in most team stats.  That's not a big surprise, but there are a few stats where the team is downright terrible:
Offensive rebounding  #22
Defensive rebounding #27
Assists #25
Steals #23

ChillyWilly, put that in your pipe and smoke it.  8)

I definitely don't think Tatum has taken another step forward. Brown was looking better, but has regressed lately - hopefully he can get past his tendonitis. TL otoh has looked great and I agree that he has been a joy to watch.
