I don't get it. He has one more year left on his contract. If I were the Pistons, I'd just keep him. He's perfect for them. I mean, it's not like they are trying to win games this season.

Imo, Blake ain't a starting-caliber player anymore. If they bring him back in their starting lineup, he will actually help them with the tank.

Buying him out is the opposite of making sense. You at least keep him through this season and then buy him out when he only has one season left on his contract. Blake would have to be giving the Pistons an amazing deal - which never ever happens in buy-outs.

I'll go with Portland because I really don't want him to end up on the Lakers or Brooklyn.

I hope it’s us. He can play with any of our bigs and I honestly think he’d look great playing with Timelord. He’s also an advanced passer, solid screen setter, and a reliable pick and pop/roll player. I think he’s barely trying in Detroit, which explains why he’s fallen off a cliff and he definitely can’t be the best player on a winning team anymore, but I think he’ll be plenty productive here.

I’m not Blake but if I’m pretending to be I’m probably thinking “for all I know this is my last year being able to play in this league.” He’s just had atrocious luck. He was a star before this latest injury. Crazy.
I’m gonna guess not Brooklyn because they’re weirdos. Does he want to join the slackers and be around what a god Lebron is every day? I’m gonna say no.
I could see Miami. Beautiful weather, SHOULD be a contender snd they seem like solid teammates there.

I went with Milwaukee, but the more I think about it, I think it might by Philly depending on how his relationship with Doc is.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Griifin will either come to the Celtics and continue his decline or go to the Nets or the Lakers and all of a sudden have a career ressurgence.

Lol. Sadly he's cooked. I don't think even LeBron's "super-special training regimen" can save those tired legs.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I'd like to see him go to the Bucks.
The bucks are hard capped they can't sign him same  for the clippers. Nets can offer Spenser's injury salary.
The Nets are the front runner, IMO. Him and Jordan are buds.

I don’t think he cares about the money at this point. He’s going to hitch his wagon to the team with the best odds and just enjoy the ride.

I don't understand what we would have to lose.  I see him giving a team 18 min off the bench or so.  And I agree, he would pair will with RWill.  RWill low, Griffin on the perimeter.  Add some nice scoring punch for the bench units.

Nets it is...
https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/261735/Blake-Griffin-Expected-To-Sign-With-Nets

There is reference to the Nets $5.7M injured player exemption.   I am not sure they will need to use that.  We'll see.  If they do, tough for the Celtics to beat a higher offer from a team with a better chance at a title.

Maybe this is what Cousins has been waiting for.  To see if the Nets would take him.

Something interesting about the Nets that I just looked up.  What to me would be their best starting 5, Harden, Irving, Harris, Durant, Jordan, have only been on the court together for 50 minutes this season.  In that 50 min, they are +24.

I can't imagine they would be better with Griffin over Jordan so he will definitely come off the bench and likely not get a whole lot of minutes.

At least with the Celtics, there is a starter spot for him if he plays well enough.

He'll glom onto whichever team seems like it has the best shot at winning a title this year.  Right now that seems like maybe it's Brooklyn, although their defense is a joke.

I very much doubt that Blake is going to be playing meaningful minutes in a close playoff series, regardless of which team he joins.
