This makes the Celtics worse.

Celtics are playing fine without Smart. Less bad shots hoisted out of nowhere. No wild shot attempts near the net.

Celts road bump had less to do with Smart out vs Tatum/Brown needing to pass the ball better/make the right plays

Gordon is a better offensive talent than Smart

Playing fine?

They're a below .500 team since Smart went out back at the end of January.
Yup, 8-9 since Smart went down. Was 5-9 just a week ago but Kemba came alive and the team won three close games.

Celtics have not played fine since Smart went out. What they have done is survived him being out, survived Brown being out, survived Kemba getting his legs under him again and being out and survived Tatum's post Covid swoon.

Smart is only scoring 4 points less a game than Gordon but makes up for that with his over 3 assists per game more than Gordon.

In a way, being less of a scorer, a much better playmaker and an incredibly better defender makes him an infinitely better fit to what this Celtic team needs right now.

The Celtics have ball stopping and defensive issues right now. Gordon doesn't fix those issues. Smart does.

Yes but its not bc Smart is out. He can help (but also hurt you with bad shots)

Before Smart injury Celts lost 5 out of 7 games

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't even think I'd take Eric Gordon into the TPE let alone trade anything useful for him.

Yeah, when clicking on this thread, I honestly thought it was going to be a trade idea using the TPE where we acquire assets/1sts back for taking on Gordon and his contract. My heart sank when I read that we were giving up Smart.

Triboy, you should know better. Smart is a considerably more valuable piece (age, contract, role) in today's NBA than Eric Gordon.

If not for Gordon thats fine

But I hope Celts get more offensive help. Smart is probably the best asset to obtain the help

I would not give up cost controlled Langford, Nesmith or PP. And Danny loves his picks

Smart is a career 37 percent shooter from the floor.  That is probably the lowest fg percent in the last decade for a player that averages 28-30 min per game

37 percent

And he's also been All-Defense first team the past two seasons.

There's more to the game than just shooting.

Sorry but that is RIDICULOUS! Eric Gordon can't carry Smart's sneakers.

Eric Gordon is shooting less than 33% from three this season.

There's not a chance in this world I would trade Smart for him.
