To Rockets: Marcus Smart, Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards, 2nd

To Celtics: Eric Gordon and fillers

Eric Gordon would either start or come off the bench as the 6th man

Kings have stated that Barnes wont be available. A good alternative would be Gordon.  A few years older but he is in good shape.   A good scorer that can catch fire.

I like Smart but his offensive efficiency is a concern. He is fearless and has no problem shooting it. But thats not what you need

Good defender but Gordon is also solid (good job on Paul in the playoffs)

Hard No. this team doesn’t need more scorers. Smart is the best defender,  Arguably the best passer and a leader. He does so much for this team.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I disagree

We have seen Walker, Tatum, Brown contained/run out of offensive gas vs Raptors and Heat in the playoffs

Team needs one more reliable offensive piece imo

C’s have 3 players that average between 15-20 shots a game. They have other guys that can shoot the ball. Pritchard is shooting 39.4% from 3pt and 45.1% from the field and Theis is shooting 37.5% from 3pt and 56% from the field.

Gordon is shooting 32.8% from 3pt and 43.7% from the field.

Gordon has 3 years plus a non-guaranteed year, starting at about $17M.  That is a pretty big commitment for a guys that likely comes off the bench and shoots 32% from 3.  I am not entirely against Gordon but I am not giving up Smart to get him.  I think we need what we get from Smart more than we need what I think we would get from Gordon.

Pritchard is a rookie. So we will see what happens. He could hit a few more rookie walls

Gordon Rockets stink. He cant carry a team, just like Middleton or Barnes or Grant cant

But on a solid roster and reduced role, these type of players play even better

No.   Celtics give up the better player and have to add pieces?

Celtics need to add a player to the 4 best players, not replace one of them.

Eric Gordon 3 percentage is better when he averages 5 a game

He is at 7 close to 8

Because Rockets are hurting right now

Possibly the worst trade I’ve ever seen. I like Gordon but not for Smart.

I don't even think I'd take Eric Gordon into the TPE let alone trade anything useful for him.

Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

This makes the Celtics worse.

Celtics are playing fine without Smart. Less bad shots hoisted out of nowhere. No wild shot attempts near the net.

Celts road bump had less to do with Smart out vs Tatum/Brown needing to pass the ball better/make the right plays

Gordon is a better offensive talent than Smart

I would rather have the world class defender who is a much better playmaker and only 26(though...Happy 27th Birthday Marcus on Saturday) than the 32 year old, less than good defender who's offense has become more and more predicated on him having the ball in his hands.

The fact you have to be paying Gordon $20 million a year when he is 35 years old makes a huge difference as well. Over this year and next the Celtics would pay $7 million less in salary and will probably re-sign Marcus to play in his prime 28-31 year old season for what a well past his prime and continuing to decline Gordon would be making.

Playing fine?

They're a below .500 team since Smart went out back at the end of January.
