Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray has a torn ACL in his left knee, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Sucks.  Hope for a complete and speedy recovery for him.

Have to imagine that all but destroys Denver’s chances this year, too.  Jokic is great, but he can’t do it alone.

Yeah, they would need some super Ewing Theory stuff to happen to make real noise in the playoffs.

really sucks for the Nuggets.  my favorite non-Celtics team significantly limited for the next season and a half, probably.

this means they won't get a playoff run with Gordon and Murray healthy before Gordon hits FA.

That is Denver out of the mix for the title.

I was wondering if Utah and Denver were the top two teams in the West for the last week or so. Shame to lose Denver. I'd love to see either one of those teams win the West instead of the Lakers or Clippers. Utah is our only hope now.

Gosh, I love watching the Jazz.

They're playing Washington and I want to also add; I want Bradley Beal on the Cetlics.

Any chance of that happening? At all?

I’d put it at about 10%.  It doesn’t seem like he wants to leave the Wizards, and the Wizards want him to stay.  But he also seems like a player, if not THE player, whom the Celtics will pursue this summer for a trade.

Welp, got to start with Jaylen Brown for any trade with Beal to Boston.

Not completely true.  Beal has a player option after next year, and is in the position to force a trade if he wants to, which could lessen the Wizards ability to command Brown.  I don’t expect that to happen (and I don’t expect Washington to trade him without such a demand), but I don’t think it’s a given Brown would be included.  If Harden could be had for mostly picks, so can Beal.  I think Kemba, 4 1sts, and TimeLord is a package that would get it done.
Beal is younger, and not a team cancer who will eventually implode the roster. IMO, they aren't talking to us without Brown in the mix.

If the Wizards wanted to get a star player for Beal, they needed to trade him this year. Beal has a player option and will more than likely be an Unrestricted free agent after next season. Teams are not giving up their top players for a rental.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think that’s a little dependent on the timing of next year’s season, which is uncertain at this point.  According to an NIH study (linked below) the mean time to return to the NBA was 11.4 months, and productivity decline was not statistically significant from a control group of non-injured players.

So it’s not crazy that Murray could come back in March and get into playoff shape in time, especially if the playoffs have a pushed-back start again next year.

But on the whole, it’s not good for Denver at all.   That’s a major disappointment for them.

This is MPJ’s chance to show what he’s capable of. If he can be a legit second star to Jokic and he learns how to share the ball more then maybe Denver can still pull off a few surprises.
