Here’s a wacky, over the top trade idea:
- Westbrook to Cavs (giving up Drummond +#5)
- Drummond and #5 to Celtics (giving up Hayward + #14)
- Horford and Harris and #14 to Rockets (giving up Westbrook)
- Hayward to Sixers (giving up Horford and Harris)

I haven’t checked salaries but I’m thinking these teams are likely the teams in the trade market. They can offload some of the contracts they don’t like while getting a player they can use.
Why do the Cavs want Westbrook when their two last top 10 picks are both guards? Doesn't make any sense, especially if they lose #5 as well. Westbrook would be of no appeal

Well, he’s a former MVP and a perennial all star. He’s also the biggest name/star available out there.
Right, but they aren't giving up the 5th pick to get him.  Doesn't make sense.  If they could move Love for Westbrook I think they'd probably do that.  Love and Osman for Westbrook.  Not sure Houston does that, but I do think Love would work very well with Harden and Houston obviously could use Love's rebounding and shooting.  Cleveland might do something like that even with all their young guards because Westbrook is a much bigger star and draw than Love.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think Houston would ask for some firepower in the guard positions alongside Love, their guard rotation isn't all that great without Westbrook (only Harden and Gordon are starter calibre).

Good luck to whatever team Russ is putting up empty trip-dubs for next year.

If Houston blows it up completely and Harden's available, I'd like for the C's to inquire.

People will say we don't want to become the iso-ball Rockets, but my question is are we really that much different?? Focus on smallball, chucking up 3s all the time, having multiple players revert to iso-ball in crucial moments of games (typically Tatum).

I wouldn't mind at least looking into it. Design a 3-team trade involving Hayward, picks and assets from another team.

I think James Harden might want out of Houston, and force his way to an Eastern Conference team. Miami look like a potential suitor. Idk if Philly can make space for him. Or he might go to a different team like the Knicks and lure LeBron back to the East to form a superteam there, again.

I would think Harden might be GSW bound... warriors have the picks and salaries to make it work

Sounds like Harden is committed to 1 more year in Houston.  That could change but considering the COVID situation staying put makes sense.  Philly can certainly salary match on a Harden trade.  I'd think Philly would need to include Simmons to get Harden but I read they weren't interested in Simmons.

Lebron isn't leaving the Lakers.  He wants to be in LA which is why he went their in free agency even though they didn't have a star to team with him at the time.  Lebron and AD are a great fit.  They've already won a championship and no reason they can't win a couple more.  Lebron and Harden are a poor fit.

I had proposed before to try trading for P.J. Tucker... his perimeter defense is fading but if he costs only Poirier + Green + Carsen + 30 pick we should do it

Harden is not a good fit with Curry.

Yeah Lebron is only going to leave the Lakers to play with his son.  If his son doesn't make the league or Lebron retires first, he will retire a Laker.

Man, Stephen Silas is gonna have a herculean task fixing that locker room, with all the dirt that has recently come out.

Per Shams, Charlotte is a potential destination for Westbrook.  Makes some sense.  Russ enjoyed playing for OKC with the team focused around him.

Good luck to Westbrook trying to find a new home. At this point in his career, his contract is horrible, to be avoided by any team. He can't even shoot 3's anyway.

So would OKC get the 3rd pick? If so, wonder who they would target?
