The Bulls will take Kevin Willis with the first of our two picks. Give me a moment to figure out the next pick.

Nice, his peak was crazy productive with 18PPG and 16RPG

I'll go with Boris Diaw for my next pick. Good all-rounder as a role player. Makes the game easier for everyone around him.

I've had him before and that season was generally thought of as a fluke and not really representative, which is in part why I have sorted changed my thinking on those 1 season wonders some.  Willis was still a very solid pick for the round, but it is hard to convince people you got an 18/16 player in him
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I probably would've picked Horry over Diaw if you hadn't of taken him where you did.

While certainly he true, he lit it up from 91-95, averaging 19/13 over the period.

Trade

The Washington Wizards and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed on a trade.

Wizards in: Allan Houston
Bucks in: Donovan Mitchell

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I plan to embrace the modern format of 4 positions: Ball handlers, Wings, Swings and Bigs. Mitchell played 47% of his minutes at PG last season and 53% at SG. I'll be using him as a score-first ball handler.

Felt like I needed a dynamic ball handler who could change the pace of the game and explode on the open court. Mitchell fits the bill. I can surround him with 4 shooters and let him do his job. He gives me a different option compared to DJ and Harper who are defensive minded ball handlers.

The Jazz were using Mitchell as a score-first PG in the playoffs. He had a terrific series against the Nuggets averaging 36.3 points, 5 rebounds and 4.9 assists on 52.9% from the floor and 51.6% from 3pt range! He was simply amazing during that series! Unfortunately for the Jazz, they lost in 7 games to the Nuggets.

Ball handlers: Dennis Johnson, Donovan Mitchell, Derek Harper
Wings: Kawhi Leonard, Khris Middleton, Mike Finley
Swings: Pascal Siakam, Toni Kukoc
Bigs: Nikola Jokic, Nikola Vucevic

Yeah, I like where you are going with that.

(1) I was thinking the same thing about my SGs. Both are more shooter types than ball-handler / slasher type. I was hoping Mitchell would fall to me to round out my options at SG.

(2) I agree with you on your team. I felt you needed a more dynamic ball-handler. I was worried about how reliant you were on Jokic to get inside the defense. That your perimeter players play with the defense in the front of them rather than piercing the defense and moving the ball.

I wonder if Mitchell is your best PG. I believe he is.

I completely forgot about Bob Love on my draft board. That was a great pick.

Overlooked Nurkic too. Another strong pick.
