My mock picks for Celtics version 2

*14.  76ers - Tyrell Terry

26. Robert Woodward
30. Immanuel Quickley
34. Killian Tillie
36. Jay Scrubb (draft and stash - Yabusele route)

*14, 47 traded to 76ers for 21, 34, 36
* 21st pick traded to OKC for 2021 1st (Heat)  and  2021 2nd round pick

I'm really liking what I'm seeing out of Robert Woodward.  He is a 6'7 hybrid chiseled forward, explosive and has a 7'1-7'2 wingspan.  His game is pretty polished and has a nice 3 point jump shot (42 percent last season).  Versatile defender with a strong motor.   Prototypical 3 and D prospect but additional ability to drive to the basket for explosive finishes with either hand

Quickley and Tillie are two more 3 pt shooting additions. Quickley in the mold of KCP/terror around screens 3 pt shooter.  Good defender.  6'3 with rondo like 6'10 wingspan.  Tillie a potential nightmare stretch 4/5 matchup.  This way for example,  Bam would have to come out to the perimeter leaving the interior open.

Tyrell Terry is a very good shooter. But watching more games/highlight,  his size/defense is a little concerning.  If we remember how Kemba was picked on in the playoffs (same with Vanvleet) as these smaller guards do have their limitations.....  Celts don't need anymore "holes"  in this regard

Quickley would fit in very nicely because 1-  he is not a pure pg  ;D.  He has a ridiculous 6'10 wingspan.  Strong 1 on 1 defender.   And is a very good shooter, especially running around screens like a madman and launching 3s in one quick motion.    Something the Celtics lacked in the playoffs but Heat had with Herro/Robinson.

Overall these additions would mean not weakening Celtics defensive system.  Adding better 3 point shooting depth at different positions.

Quickley highlights (look at this sequence and what he does to Alabama)
https://youtu.be/PcPpNgUEOQA?t=317

Woodward highlights

He grew 2 inches so he's a 6'2-6'3 PG now.

I doubt it

He was listed 6'2 prior to college season start

Also he added 15 pounds

but that doesn't change the fact that he has a mediocre wingspan and questionable defensive ceiling

If he had Trey Young type scoring capability, maybe one could look aside these short comings.
Eh him being a Curry type of defender (slight positive) would be more than enough if he develops into a nice offensive player.
Even if he's just a slightly better version of Seth Curry (main difference would be playmaking and passing) then that's a good pick at #14. Could easily be a 13-5-2 sparkplug.

However, I think he'll be better than that. Could provide LouWill-esque offensive firepower with better defence if he reaches his full potential.
I see his full potential as a Steph lite

Not sure the best place for this but I wanted to get on the record with a draft prediction (basically throwing darts) so that if a miracle happens and I am even partly right by pure element of chance, I will have something to brag about.

#14  I like Nesmith but likely he is gone and then I would be happy with Hamilton
#26  I like Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Smith would be great also (hope 1 of 2 is available)
#30  I am thinking stash so first choice is Pokusevsky my alt. is Bolmaro

Not sure if trading up is worth it.  Okongwu (for example) is not necessarily any better than Stewart or Smith (who knows, right?).  Anyway my "trade up" guy is Haliburton.

My mock  v2

1. Minnesota Timberwolves: James Wiseman
2. Golden State Warriors: Onyeka Okonwu
3. Charlotte Hornets: Anthony Edwards
4. Chicago Bulls: Isaac Okoro
5. Cleveland Cavaliers: Obi Toppin
6. Atlanta Hawks: Deni Avdija
7. Detroit Pistons: LaMelo Ball
8. New York Knicks: Patrick Williams
9. Washington Wizards: Tyrese Haliburton
10. Phoenix Suns:  Precious Achiuwa
11. San Antonio Spurs: Killian Hayes
12. Sacramento Kings: Saddiq Bey
13. New Orleans Pelicans: Kira Lewis Jr.
14. Boston Celitics:  Devin Vassell
15. Orlando Magic: Tyrese Maxey
16. Portland Trailblazers: Aaron Nesmith
17. Minnesota Timberwolves: Theo Maledon
18. Dallas Mavericks:  Pokusevski
19. Brooklyn Nets: Tyler Bey
20. Miami Heat:  Zeke Nnaji
21. Philadelphia 76ers: RJ Hampton
22. Denver Nuggets: Paul Reed
23. Utah Jazz: Josh Green
24. Milwaukee Bucks: Mason Jones
25. Oklahoma City Thunder: Jahmi'us Ramsey
26. Boston Celtics: Xavier Tillman
27. New York Knicks: Tyrell Terry
28. Los Angeles Lakers: Robert Woodward
29. Toronto Raptors: Isaiah Stewart
30. Pelicans: Jalen Smith
39. Celtics:  Peyton Pritchard

Trade
To Pelicans: 2020 30th pick, 47th pick,  Edwards, Poirier
To Celtics:  2020 39th pick, 2021 41st pick,  Josh Hart

-Celtics get lucky and Vassell drops.  I do worry about his skinny body. But he can really shoot the ball (high release).  Also is an intense versatile defender.   Will go after rebounds, block shots utilizing long arms + spark.  Doesn't need to the ball in his hands to impact the game.  Which is fine, since the Celts have enough mouths to feed anyways.

- Celtics nab Xavier Tillman at 26. Will fit well under CBS. Like having a 6'8 version of Grant Williams.   I do believe you can play both on the court at the same time.  Also Tillman + Timelord could work depending on the matchup

New addtions
-Vassell
-Tillman
-Pritchard
- Hart

Few qís Triboy.

1) Why do you think the Timberwolves take Wiseman when there are reports he doesnít want to go there?

2) Why does LaMelo fall so much and why is Achiuwa a top 10 pick? LaMeloís guard skills would probably be too enticing for some to pass up, and Achiuwa measures worse than expected.

3) Why do the Bucks reach on Jones so much? Iím a big fan of Jones - his offence reminds me of Corey Maggette - but heís projected as a 2nd rounder

1. Wiseman has the highest ceiling out of all the prospects.  He also can move very well. You could play both KAT and Wiseman at the same time. Or at least try at 1st.   You can also trade one for a big haul down the line.  Value remains high(legit big man are hard to find) unlike some other players from this draft

Teams should not be scared or back down.  Wiseman will show up and still play... his attitude could change quickly. Take the best player

2. LaMelo drops due to Wiseman going number 1 and other order unraveling.  GSW do not need anymore guards.  Or primary ball handlers. Pistons have holes everywhere. Gladly take Ball.  If Ball drops this is as far as he does

2b. Suns is packed in all positions. Except C/PF.  Achiuwa is the best big available at 10.  Lets not forget the Suns do their own thing(Cam Johnson last season). They also highly consider Patrick Williams. But strong rumors right now that the Knicks want him

3. Bucks lack of balance is more players that can get their own shots off. Drive to the basket and get to the line.  Jones was one of the top prospects in this regard. Avg a ton of trips to the line. So if he is not scoring he knows how to draw contact. He can also shoot.  They could have a used a player like this vs Heat.

You saw my list... it is possible

Patrick Williams is probably a lock to go in the top 10.

I would say Suns could take Vassell at 10...but are already full with players like Cam Johnson, Bridges, Oubre etc

Spurs won't let Hayes get past them.

Kings take Bey due to size to play SF/PF.  They need a bit more help/holes to fill upfront.

Pelicans need a PG if Holiday is a goner.  Either way they need a PG of the future. I think they are pretty much locked into Kira Lewis jr.

In these scenarios, someone would need to be squeezed out.  I think it would be Vassell

Vassell for his strong versatile D and 3 shooting....  Is skinny and not a great scorer in general.  He avg 12 ppg in his 2nd season which screams out complimentary.   Most teams in the lottery range don't want that. They want more.   Celtics on the flipside could easily use a high end complimentary player like Vassell in their lineup.

no

but rationally he could drop vs your view of he is not dropping to us at 14

I provided the avenue of how he could drop.  It's not like I'm creating some unrealistic story that Wiseman drops to 14

ESPN's latest mock has the C's taking:

#14: Tyrese Maxey (Hampton goes 15)
#26: Leandro Bolmaro
#30: Xavier Tillman Sr.

I'll throw up in my mouth with this, sorry guys.

Kentucky ball players scare the crap out of me.  It's hit or miss, and many have there been a lot of misses.

Got to take Hampton there if he is on the board:

"A consensus top-five recruit, Hampton spurned Kansas and Memphis to join the Australian NBL's Next Stars program. While battling injury over the course of the season, Hampton was still evaluated quite extensively by NBA scouts and decision-makers, showing glimpses of his long-term potential given his speed, explosiveness and scoring instincts. -- Schmitz

Strengths

Quick, explosive athlete with nice size for a combo guard. Has grown three inches over the past few years and is far from a finished product physically. Plays above the rim with ease in space. Explosive first step with the ability to shift gears on a dime. Uses Eurosteps well in the open floor.

Versatile offensive game. Can play on or off the ball in a pinch. At his best putting pressure on the rim with his speed in transition and the half court. Streaky, yet developing shooter who can make a spot 3 or a midrange pull-up with nice elevation. Holds quite a bit of playmaking potential. Sound feel for the game. At his best in drive-and-kick situations.

Fundamentals need work but has the tools to defend either backcourt spot in time. Quick feet when fully engaged. Positional length allows him to contest shots on the perimeter. Covers ground quickly on closeouts.

Improvement areas

Solid foundation overall but doesn't quite have one elite skill. Needs to become a more consistent 3-point shooter, especially off the dribble. Will turn down rhythm 3s once he misses one or two. Handle slows him down against elite defenders.

Can stand to toughen up both as a finisher and defender. Shot only 3.6 free throws per 40 minutes despite his athletic tools. Gets taken advantage of by stronger guards defensively.

Defensive technique needs work. Gets hit on screens far too often, more due to fundamentals than lack of strength. Doesn't direct the ball handler in one position or another. Narrow base and hunched frame. Focus comes and goes off the ball.

Projected role: Creating combo guard"

While the early bird catches the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese!

I will jump on this.

He is a non PG not large enough SG that is a poor 3pt shooter.

42% from the floor
29% from 3pt
A non primary scorer
Poor Pick and Roll player
Poor Consistancy
Not a good passer

Too many negatives for me. An easy pass.

Team need to draft guys with huge potential, or elite skills. Maxey fits none of those needs.

I personally have him as the 8th or 9th best SG/PG in the draft.
1-Edwards
2-Vassell
3-Green
4-Ramsey
5 - Bane
6 - Stanley
7- riller
8 - Joe

I do not get why anyone would have Maxey of Ramsey. Ramsey is better at everything than Maxey and is bigger and younger (by a touch)

And the beauty of it all is everyone outside of Edwards and Vassell will most likely be available at either 26, 30 or 47

Joe is a real sleeper pick in this draft, underrated.
10+ 3pters attempted a game, fast release, unlimited range.

The guard hits (Herro, Booker) were much more efficient FG/FT than Maxey at Kentucky.

Kentucky ball players scare the crap out of me.  It's hit or miss, and many have there been a lot of misses.

Lots of hits, too.  What donít you like about Maxey?

The guard hits (Herro, Booker) were much more efficient FG/FT than Maxey at Kentucky.

Devin Booker was a role player at Kentucky on a team that had the Harrison twins (who weren't gonna give up their shots), WCS and KAT. Maxey was their go-to scorer.

Maxey has already demonstrated much more defensive chops than those guys too.

Max Carlin (who thinks outside the box; big Grant Williams guy last year) likes Maxey a lot, because he says he has what the wonks refer to as secondary playmaking ability.  He can get into the middle and finish with floaters, etc.  Thinks he will be a good complement to Tatum.

I don't see it. He doesn't strike me as especially athletic, or long, and certainly not efficient as a shooter.

CFAN38, who studies the draft as much or more than anyone on this Board, thinks Danny could surprise everyone and take Cole Anthony at 14. Frankly, while I would be disappointed, I think I'd prefer that to Maxey.  He has more athleticism.  And I'm starting to think CFAN38 could be right.

I'd prefer Hampton, but if Danny wants someone to step in right away, Anthony would probably make more sense to draft.
