Predictable iso garbage... for Kemba or Tatum or Brown

High screen and blitz. Or quick collapse close to the basket

How about letting the bench shoot a little more??

Gwill please score the buckets yourself sometimes. Wide open. Stop passing way back ... back to the high screen.

It would be nice if half our bench wasn't unplayable or at least Brad thinks so.

Bench shot 45 percent tonight.. but what only got off 12 shots in total?

Celtics must always let Kemba or Tatum or Brown touch the ball/iso. Which leads to high screen and blitz.

Raptors just sitting on this

Semi makes 2 shots. Misses one.  Then Brad yanks him for ice cold Smart or Theis.....

You cant win in this league without offensive help from role players

I'd agree that outside of Wanamaker and Robert Williams, our current bench is unplayable.  Grant Williams is ok in limited minutes, but we were already weak as a bench before Hayward went down. That took Smart out of our bench group. Langford's not ready and also has a torn ligament in his shooting hand. Kanter, we saw what happened when he plays in the last game. Semi is awful, I cringe whenever he gets the ball. That's basically it. Guys like Waters and Edwards and Taco should not be in consideration to see the floor in a playoff series.

Disagree

Celts should give Langford a run

He can knife his way to the basket/floaters that could cause a headache for the Raps

One or two other role players need to emerge from the bench

You have to let the bench shoot otherwise you are unevenly matched on the floor. Let them shoot I bet you some of the shots will go in. TOR will not be the team it is if they did not let scrubs like Vanvleet and Anunoby shoot You draft them you got to play them ....  you cannot play three against 5 and expect to win.

Thanks. Unfortunate

Raps not only getting contribution from starters but also from Ibaka and Powel off the bench

Its the usual suspects for Celtics. Just high screen/blitz Tatum or Walker. Take away their 3s.  Then collapse below basket to take away the drive/and 1s. Let Smart, Theis, Gwill take all the semi wide open 3s they want.  Its a good strategy by Nurse.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't think this performance should be all that surprising. Like it or not, FVV was kind-of right - the Cs handed them a free win and in turn left the series wide open. Guys can say all of the right things before a game like this, but the human psyche can be very powerful. It's very easy to see how losing a game like they did on Thursday - a historic loss - would lead to an additional loss.

We were lucky to be up 2-0 in the series at the time, because this series would likely be over with at this point otherwise. They - especially Brown - need to get their heads out of their butts and start playing with determination on both sides of the ball. TOR is only going down if we beat them into oblivion. This Cs have been frontrunners for years; they need to prove they can fight back and re-gain control of a series. TOR is nothing w/o Kawhi and the Cs need to believe in themselves again. Otherwise, we are essentially going to be the 2020 version of Sixers confetti game.

The Clippers didn't blow what was about to be a 3-0 series lead by choking a last-second defensive possession, then play a crappy game 4, leading to a 2-2 series wherein Boston has zero momentum.

And the Clippers have Kawhi, who's better than any Celtic.

To be honest I think I just need to take a day or two off from social media + sports. Bruins eliminated a week ago. 2020 Red Sox are absolute trash. Now these last few games from the Celtics. A lot of sadness.

I also have classes starting up this week so I think I need to just relax and not worry about sports for a bit. Life's just crazy lol

Good news is, NFL starts up next week though we'll see how that pans out with the pandemic

EDIT: Oh sweet, the Red Sox with a walkoff win tonight!  ;D

Give Toronto credit, they took the ball out of Walker and Tatum's hands for the most part and forced Brown, Smart, Theis, Semi and Wanamaker to beat them.

Stevens has to make adjustments to get shots for his guys.

this is spot on, which is why it will be critical for cbs to counter. also, if brown or smart had made just a few shots, toronto’s defense would not have been able to key solely on tatum and kemba, opening up our offense and changing the game and outcome. as usual, winner of game five takes the series.

The Red Sox walk off was more fuel on the fire in my book. I’m rooting for the top pick. Meaningless and painful win.

The Cs shot 28-40 from 2 point range. Unfortunately in today’s NBA if you get outshot from 3 you lose. That’s what happened. There’s no way you can blame that on effort.

Yeah, a nonsensical strawman.

What do the Clips losing have to do with the Celtics series?

I feel the same way. I just retreat to my other hobbies when sports start to get depressing for our teams.
