A competing report that Kobe' family wasn't on the copter. Multiple reporters have already said his wife was definitely not. Hope this one's right.

Pelicans and Celtics locker rooms will be closed pregame. Plan is for players to talk postgame only.

Typically locker rooms are open for 30 mins starting 75 before tip.

This is undoubtedly the right move today.

Sources: Kobe Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his daughter Gianna when the helicopter crashed. Those aboard the helicopter also included another player and parent.

CNN is not reporting the death of Kobe's child and the anchor just sent condolences to his wife and 4 children.  I really hope that this family doesn't have to endure the additional tragedy and loss of a child.

The pilot too. Obviously reports are coming in and they'll continue to investigate, but I want to know if this was just some serious accident (pilot error), or some malfunction. Either way, just devastating. Prayers to the Kobe family.

Yes -- his fame leads so many to feel "connected" in some way, but the real nightmare is for any family that loses loved ones, especially young ones, in sudden, unexpected ways. Holding out hope that reports about the children are not accurate.

Wow I’m a puddle watching him coach his daughter from the sidelines. Heartbreaking news. As a father of 4, two young girls, I can’t even process this. His poor wife and surviving girls.

Young people die around the world in even more horrible ways all the time.  Tragic events happen all the time including occasionally ones that take out whole families.  Can you really not imagine what they're going through?
