I think the biggest thing with Poirier is nerves. Watch his Euro highlights. He's a powerhouse around the rim. But here, he just acts shocked everytime the ball is passed to him.

He plays much looser and more relaxed in those Euro games. He seems a bit tight in a few NBA minutes he's gotten.

From our 3 regular starters(Kemba,Theis and Hayward), 2 of which are the 4th and 5th options on offense normally with all the starters playing, we got

75 points
22 rebounds
15 assists
5 steals
2 blocks
27-53 from the field
9-20 from three
12-12 from the line

That's amazing stuff. WTG Guys!!!!

Great win, but I think this game showed me that Poirier might never be an NBA player. He's so lethargic, and has hands like frying pans.

I can buy that.  But this game adds credibility to Javonte and Grant.
I have loved what both have given the team this year. Both guys are older rooks and they play like it. They play smarter than regular rookies.

I think Grant has a long career in front of him as a three point shooting, great passing, tough versatile defending role player. Love what he is showing this early in his career

Grant was 20 for the first month of his NBA career.  He’s not all that old for a rookie, even in the one-and-done era.  A lot of one-and dones enter college at 19, whereas he started at 17.

Sometimes there is something that can be said for having fewer ball dominant offensive players on the floor all at the same time.

It causes the non-scorers to think about setting useful picks, being a general facilitator, and taking good percentage shots. It also gives the true scorers, the ball dominant player a chance to really get rolling.

excellent point - last season was a painful example of what you are saying, looking back now, that team was a disaster waiting to happen. Stevens stated he knew as much after watching pre-training camp pickup games at the Auerbach Center and witnessed players abandoning the previous year's ball movement and simply jacking 3's with impunity. his fears proved valid.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Perhaps I should have used more experienced rather than older then because I know he played 3 years at Tennessee.

In the little write-up on the game shared by the Celtics Twitter account (https://twitter.com/celtics/status/1220948866264182784) Marc D'Amico states that "You can literally go down the list of all nine Celtics who appeared in the game and single out something they did to help push the team to victory."

I thought this was funny, because I immediately thought "what about Poirier?"

So I scrolled down and find that Poirier helped by stepping in to

log a career-high 10 minutes of 27 seconds of playing time in the absence of Kanter and Robert Williams. Without him, the Celtics would have been forced to play small ball all night long.

Lol. I love the positivity, but I'm not sure that's actually something that contributed.

Good write-up in general. Really like how Brad mentions telling Javonte that he'd be needed to lock in on Terrence Ross, who usually lights us up. Ross shot 3-13.

"Trade Hayward for Drummond or Adams"

Hayward puts up 22/14/5 tonight when 3 of our best players are all out

well, he did have five turnovers.  ::)
Trade that bum!! Maybe Hayward and picks for Fournier? He sure lit us up tonight

Although Ojeyele has had a frustrating first half of the season, I've absolutely loved his play lately especially on defense. This is the guy we saw two years ago when he battled Giannis on defense in the playoffs. And we saw it again a few days ago against the Lakers with him defending Lebron in spurts

and his shots are dropping. he’ll be critical in the playoffs, especially against MIL & Phil.
Up to 37.5% on 3s for the season. Not bad. I'd like to see more arc on his shot, but as long as it's falling...

And Williams. Lol. You cant really say it proves that you need a big when 2 of your rotation bigs are injured.

Missed the game tonight, have to watch in on DVR...I did have fun reading through the entire game thread though, it's funny reading it in the absence of watching the game - it sounds like it was a really roller coaster game because the comments went from "awesome start" to "we're trash", "can't win the game", "wish we were healthy" to "Kemba could score 60 here", "great second half comeback", "one of the best wins of the season underhanded". These are the kinds of games which are so much fun to watch.

And imagine that people were unhappy when we had five bigs at the start of the season (Theis, Kanter, Timelord, Poirier, Fall). You do go through them in a season with injuries.
