Center is not this team's most immediate problem.  They're fine with that they have.
Last night Theis had 16, Kanter 20 and Embid had 38.  They held their own.

The bigger problem is their wing depth sucks.

Simply tallying up the points scored of each team's centers is such a poor way to illustrate the actual impact of any of the individual players.
Yes and no.  No one in the league can guard Embid when he's on - you just hope you can limit him a little bit.  Kanter causes him problems because he can step out and hit a mid range jumper.  It forces him out of the middle - so that's a plus because you're making him exert effort and pulling him out of the paint.  He also forces Embid to block out because Kanter is such a good rebounder.

Theis works at it at least.  The problem - and the reason Embid is a superstar  -is when he's on - like last night - there isn't a whole lot anyone can do about it.  There are maybe 2 guys in his class in the league if you're talking matchups and neither is coming here anytime soon - nor could they with the current cap situation.

A 3rd guy who can at least match up with him and not get dominated just left here to team up with him.
I think the Celtics have done an excellent job - with the resources available at the time which weren't much - of filling the hole they had in the middle when Horford left.

Don't forget they had to give up Baynes to create enough cap room to sign Walker.  I'm not sure what else they could have done.

I would look at the teams at the bottom of standings to see if there are any decent players who might be available.

We just need someone who is great defender who has size, strength and switchability.  Someone like the Heat's center.

Hayward + any 1st round pick and a second rounder for Steven Adams.

I don't get the whole let's trade our young stud/wing that can complimentary guard 1-4, as well as play 2-4 for a center that got overpaid...
You should know better than proposing trading Hayward. The majority on here will shred you to pieces.
You can trade Pierce , Rondo and Garnet but not Hayward.

Don't mess with CelticStrongers  :P lol

Pierce, Garnett, and Rondo were all traded under very different circumstances than the circumstances that Hayward would be hypothetically traded under.

For example, if the league repealed the Stepien rule and I could trade 36-year old Gordon Hayward to the Knicks for their next two first round picks, unprotected, I would do that in a heartbeat. If I'm trading 29-year old Gordon I want a lot back and I doubt I can get something worth more than he is to the Cs. I'll listen, but often people propose trading him for a bag of balls.

Maybe Philly will trade us Horford.  :o

Those centres don't grow on trees lol, they'd cost us one of our core 5.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Hayward for Turner + maybe cap filler. We throw them a 1st + 2nd rounder, and see what they would want.

I think Turner could fit in our team's scheme. Not the best passer, but at least he can block shots, switch, and shoot the 3.

It's amazing that people trapped in the 1970s have access to the world wide web.

Good idea trade Hayward and open up more shots for Tatum.

A Pacers team with Brogdon, Oladipo, Hayward, Warren and Sabonis might be better than the Celtics.  Stronger Bench with Holiday's and Lamb. And you want to give them and first and a second rounder.

Yeah, if Tatum then keeps up this shooting, we can get a lottery pick each year for the next several years and get a franchise player

I'd look do do a small move this year. I'd love to do a few second round picks for Nerlens Noel. I know he's a lightning rod choice on the board, but his per 36 numbers are really good, he's feisty defensively and he's a hometown kid. I really thought we had a shot at him this year but instead we dumped $2.5 million a year on Poirier, currently in the G-League. This was a major mistake by Ainge (not to sign a Noel, O'Quiin, Cauley Stein level player with that last bit of money. It's not a major move but it gives that last little depth in the front court.

I have faith that Stevens could help Noel with some of his bad habits defensively. But with Tatum, Brown, Hayward and Kemba, we need defense and rebounding, largely, from our big guys.

That's for this season, don't panic and give away a first round pick, make a smaller move like that.

Then, I hope and pray and pray and hope, etc., that for once in his life, Ainge will select some half decent, quality big men in this year's draft to stock the front court equally with our young core of wings and guards (Tatum, Hayward for 3-4 more years), Brown, Smart, Langford, and to lesser degrees Semi, Edwards, etc.).

I was really hoping Ainge would select a few this year  - maybe next year. If we can really hold our own in the paint, this team would shred people, including the Philly's and Milwaulkee's out there.

Last note:  I do like Edwards, Waters Williams and Langford. I think Langford has a high ceiling and ,that Edwards and G Williams will develop into decent role players for us. But, we have got to get some tough, young big guys in the paint, along with the Time Lord, who has really made some nice progress this year.

I would trade ours and MWE pick next draft for Dwight just so Danny doesn’t bring more rookies to this team lol  ;D
