so far Romeo and Vincent just looked lost..hopefully time will help them develop..Didnt like Grant pick and still dont but hope he proves me wrong..Waters is still iffy to me and theres a reason he got pick late in 2nd..Edwards is a scorer but needs to learn how to pass..Green can be a good keeper and rather have him than Semi
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I found Stevens comments after the game interesting regarding the starting big spot. Said that they came pretty close to starting Poirier tonight.

Fun stat of the game:

Cedi Osman of the Cavs, in 24 minutes put up the tremendously difficult to believe +/- of -38.

-38.....in 24 minutes. I didn't believe that possible.

-38....wow!!!!

Theis looks the most locked-in to the starting 5 spot. I can see Stevens trying out each of his centers in the starting 5 during the preseason though. RW3 and Theis have done it, Poirier and Kanter are next.

Well, maybe Poirier or Kanter. There is only one more preseason game left.

Rotoworld said Williams impressed with his defense and shotblocking.

I watched the first quarter. Starting Theis rolled my eyes. He's not a starter.

Then in came Kanter, and in two minutes, he showed his offensive rebounding strength--and his defensive weakness. He offered no effort at stopping a drive in the paint, and then went down the court and scored on an offensive rebound. And then got another offensive rebound the next time down the court. He has a knack for being around the basket for offensive rebounds.

Then came Robert Williams, who is barely recognizable from the skinny rookie of last year. Looks like he gained 20 lbs of upper body strength. No doubt a defensive force, as he showed. Impressed the most by him. Looks like he and Smart are the Celtics defense. Don't know how you can keep Smart from starting. Hayward or Brown should come off the bench.

I didn't see Poirier, but I did see Tackomania when they had about a 50 pt lead. He is definitely a force in the paint to deal with for the opposition. He's pretty strong and towers over everybody else. Gets easy shots and blocks.

Ainge has thrown four big guys at Stevens, who is not a big guy coach. We'll see how this plays out.

Robert Williams will probably become the starting center for good before the all star break. The game is slowing down for him. He fits in well with the other starters because he doesn’t need the ball, and he can help out when Kemba gets backed down.

Celtics should hire a big man coach for Tacko....there are so many things he could improve on to maximize his height advantage.

Based on Poirier's play I'm going to assume it was a really sarcastic joke.

I don't think it was a joke.

Brad said the starting 5 in the preseason may change from game to game.

Everyone is assuming that Poirier would start in place of Theis but what if Stevens meant he would start two bigs.  I guess if he specifically referred to "the big spot" that is clear enough.

As to the roster possibilities, yeah, Waters and Green have been good but they really don't fill any pressing need for us.  Big depth is our need so that is why I would be surprised if they give up on Semi in favor of one of these guys.  Waters seems to be in as a 2-way so I see no purpose to keep Green over Semi.  Now Green vs. Strus, that one could go either way with no real impact.  Any of Strus, Green, Waters (essentially 3rd or 4th string guards) are far easier to replace if needed than Semi (a deep bench big).

Water is a bog hall

Green had one good preseason game and the rest of the time has been so so.

Alright, maybe instead of saying "have been good", I should have said "better than expected for non-drafted journeyman players".

I'm surprised that someone talked about Waters' tendency to hold onto the ball too much and shoot when he should pass lol, I thought I was the only guy who saw it (to be fair I only watched the full game highlights, but even from watching his highlights I could see that he's a bit of a ball hog tbh).

Sadly, it is how guys think they will get on the team a lot and ruins summer league play.    Waters is fast and seem to be able to get to the rim, but when someone is open throw them the ball!
