I was unsure about how well Hondo would adapt to the 3 point line because he was more a scorer than shooter.

That worried me about him.

Interesting pick. Low peak player if I'm looking at the right metrics though.

I'm taking the 70-71 season of Hondo, where he averaged 28 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists on 45% shooting.
That looks good without taking pace and expansion into account. Do like Hondo's scalability though!

Darn it!

Haha although it's funny. West was my favourite to pair with Wilt too. I get the feeling we might end up with some similar wish lists!

Alright you're enemy #1 to me, he was the sleeper pick I was trying to nab. Ranked #14 on my draft board, and third among PGs (yes I do think that West is more of a PG).

Sigh......

You won't win this game based on stats and metrics because the numbers don't translate across eras with different offensive philosophies, different rules and different levels of competition. The stats will help to explain abilities and tendencies and how they might work with other players.

Hondo was a ferocious defender, an exceptional passer and rebounder and he could shoot. He was one of the greatest sixth men ever and yet was still the #1 star on two title teams. He could play with anyone.

I think Hondo is being picked right about where he should be selected. The Kawhi pairing is interesting in a cliff hanger type way. I just now need to know who else is going to be added to make this work. Can't wait to find out on Monday.

Me too. Those two, Jerry, Steph. I was hoping one of those guys slipped. It was always a long shot though.

No idea who to pick now.

And what I'm saying is that I'm sceptical that Hondo's stats in his amazing 71 season will translate to the modern game. The 70s had some very inflated stats for superstars due to factors such as pace and expansion, and I'm not sure if Hondo is a good enough player to carry a team's creation when you already have a guy like Kawhi who's not a great playmaker.
