Something the media neglected to cover on this one

Quote
"But another huge story, one that has not been covered by any mainstream paper or network is the fact that their trip to Israel, or as they're calling Palestine, was being sponsored by a group that literally published neo-Nazi blood libels and said that it supported female suicide bombers. You know, hailing them as heroes. That's a scandal."

The trip, as Weiss explained, was sponsored by Miftah, an organization that seeks to highlight the Palestinian plight. But, they have also praised female suicide bombers and they regularly promote anti-Semitic doctrines, such as the “blood libel,” which suggests “Jews used the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.

"If someone like Steve King was going to Sweden or Norway and eating with neo-Nazi groups, that would be front page news," Weiss continued. "One of the questions I think we need to ask is: Is the fact that Trump has lodged racist horrible attacks on these women, has that made them sort of untouchable for us to cover in an accurate way?"

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/nyt-columnist-its-a-scandal-that-media-didnt-cover-omar-tlaib-israel-trip-sponsors

Or how about how Tlaib has basically been given a pass by the left for her posting of a blatantly anti-semitic depiction on her instagram over the weekend.  While the left has always been low key hostile towards Israel, the fact they are now providing safe harbor to such blatant anti-semitism is appalling. Turns out the far-right and the far-left aren't all that different at all. I mean David Duke actually praised Omar. Just think how messed up that is.

I don't know know how anyone can look at the actions of these two congresswomen and not demand their immediate resignation. They are an embarrassment and should immediately resign.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Is it possible to oppose Israel expansion, to believe that the treatment of Palestinian civilians by Israel has been at times tantamount to war crimes and also not be anti-Semitic?

My Jewish wife would say yes.  So would the top-polling person of  Jewish ancestry seeking the presidency.

Absolutely

Unfortunately, that's not what is happening here with either of these two congresswomen or their sympathizers. Comparing Trump or Netanyahu to Hitler, comparing the treatment of Palestinian refugees to how the Jews were treated by the Nazis, supporting terrorist groups that seek the absolute destruction of Israel, and trying to pass off condemnation of these actions as Islamaphobic is beyond the pale.

It is very possible as most focus on whats happening in Israel and ignoring other countries who are doing a lot worse.
90% of whats coming out of the UN involves Israel.
No mention of India/Kashmir, China and the Muslims and many other places.

This response doesn't make any sense, unless you're arguing that nobody is entitled to have opinions on anything unless they have opinions on everything.

Are you supporting / condoning anti-Semitic terrorist groups at the same time?

A body of people (the UN) is hyper-focused on punishing one group of people (Israel) while ignoring the worse behavior of others (human rights violations throughout Asia and Africa).  Does that bother you?

It’s something the Secretary General acknowledges:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/ban-ki-moon-united-nations-disproportionate-israel-focus-resolutions-palestinians-human-rights-danny-a7481961.html

I can guarantee you’d care if the above paragraph read as follows:

A body of people (a local police department) is hyper-focused on punishing one group of people (blacks) while ignoring the worse behavior of others (crimes by whites).

Why are you defending discrimination against Israel?

Trump is such an ass...

Implying you're not a 'good' Jew if you vote Democrat is so gross (although I do think the party is letting them down in a huge way right now).  The Republicans, while always supportive of Israel have more than enough demons of their own when it comes to the treatment of Jews here in the US.  There is no moral high ground for them to claim here.

Trump says any Jewish people who vote for Democrats are showing ‘great disloyalty’ or ‘lack of knowledge’

It can't be fun to be under assault from basically all corners of the socio-political spectrum.  I really feel for the Jewish people (American, Israeli, or otherwise).  They just can't seem to escape it.  They end up even being pitted against themselves.

I detest the “you must for for Party X because you’re [Jewish / Christian / gay / black / white / Latino, etc.]”
