I think the Kyrie gamble was worth the risk, it just didn't work. I know that some people question trading an injured IT for an oft-injured Kyrie, but none of Kyrie's injuries has been career-altering, and IT is a shell of his former self.
I do think Danny might've made a mistake in regards to Davis—namely, it seems that he'd been planning for Davis for years, but never took into consideration (until it was too late) whether Davis wanted to be in Boston, and/or how badly Davis wanted to be a Laker.
I've been critical of Ainge at times, but there've been several things he was forced into making decisions on, based on events that were out of his control—IT getting hurt and Hayward getting hurt being two big examples. If IT doesn't get hurt, maybe Danny keeps him; and if Hayward doesn't get hurt, maybe a team with a healthy Hayward and IT does much better last season than what we got. Danny's certainly not perfect, but I think he's done a very good job overall. I'm trying to temper my expectations for this season—I don't want to get burned again like I did last season—but if this squad has great chemistry, has fun together, and plays like they have nothing to lose, the end result of the season might be very cool, and it might make some disgruntled superstar want to come here and be a team player and win.
